Killer snow storm heading right at us in South Alabama.
2-4 inches predicted with massive drifts up to 6 inches. I went to Winn Dixie today and loaded up with supplies for this massive blizzard - a 6-pack of beer, some treats for my cats, and a pack of chewing gum.

:toast:

9. For us in the south, that is massive.
We get terrible thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes, but throw us a little bit of snow and we freak out!!I am super excited about the 4-5" of snow we are supposed to get. On a really cold year, we may get a flurry. So hell yeah for the little piddly snow we are getting!!!!

As matter of fact, I am sitting here with my husband by a fire listening to music and watching the snow fall. Loving every minute of it!

11. We might have more snow tomorrow than they have for the Winter Olympics.
I'm just having fun with all the crazy weather girls and guys down here, but there really could be some decent accumulations of 5-7 inches in parts of South Alabama.

32. The weather service says Tallahassee is getting light snow right now
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?map.x=216&map.y=149&site=tae&zmx=1&zmy=1

But the air temperature is 40F so it's melting on the way down. Here, about 25 miles north east of there, we're just getting rain, maybe some sleet. The horses are in the barn. If it were really cold and snowing, I'd leave them out, but with the cold wet weather, it gets through their coats and they get badly chilled.

34. I am definitely ready for spring!
I've been here when we had colder temperatures, like Chistmas of 88 or was it 89 when it got down to 8 degrees. But never when it was that cold that long like we had last month.

And my old bones can't take it. Monday night when the low was moving in, I could barely walk from the pain in my joints. Tonight is getting that bad. Times like this the Vicodin does not help, crawling under the electric blanket with it cranked up to HIGH does not help. The only thing that will help is when the barometric pressure gets back above 30 inches.

If this is what the future holds I may well sell my farm and move to Belize! I'd still have to live with low pressure systems but at least they would be warm.

36. Yeah, that was an awful cold spell. It just wouldn't end!
And the humidity makes it that much worse. People don't understand that 40 degrees with humidity near 100% is far worse than much lower but dry temps. When it's cold here, it hurts. It's actually painful.

37. Yes, our repuke governor person is a real piece of work.
Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 02:42 AM by Elwood P Dowd
He prays for rain, and we get monsoon weather in the summer/fall. He also stole the 2002 election from the real winner, Don Siegelman. Don went to bed as the elected governor and woke up behind Riley when the Baldwin County results were changed by KKKarl Rove's cronies.

Years ago I went through a storm like that in Alabama. I'm a New Englander, grew up with snow and ice. I got out on those innocent looking roads down south and it was a nightmare. Stay home, guys, be safe. It will melt.
