The "Patriotic Retirement Plan" |
|
I recieved the following email this morning:
There recently was an article in the St. Pete Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it!
Dear Mr. President,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.
Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan ":
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire.
Forty million job openings -Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American CAR.
Forty million cars ordered and Auto Industry is
fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their
mortgage .
Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!!
P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...
Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare . I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!
If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.
Sounds like a plan to me. And to think, the economy could be fixed for only $40M. WHAT A BARGAIN!

40 million multplied by 1 million = 40,000,000,000,000 not 40 million or 40,000,000.

2. My freeper BIL sent me this a couple weeks ago... |
|
I deleted it like I do all of his emails.
I don't get the "have all members in Congress pay their taxes" deal. Their finances are open to public scrutiny, aren't they? How many nominees to government posts were derailed because of a tax problem, e.g. Daschle?
And oh yeah, let's all retire and lose that expertise and experience.
As usual, the freeper "solution" is simplistic and naive.

3. I think the freepers have fixated on Geithner getting caught... |

for not paying some back taxes. That is probably what that reference is about. Of course, they ignore the fact that Palin just got caught for not paying taxes on her property.

4. What if I don't want to retire? What if I like to work? Here is yet another |
|
example of these folks telling government to stay out of their lives but wanting to get all over my life.

11. Nothing stopping you from volunteering.. |
|
There really aren't all that many people who truly enjoy their jobs, IMO..
But there are many people who would enjoy the opportunity to follow their muse.

5. funny how they typically hate entitlement programs - but see benefits in |
|
simply handing $1M to all those over 50.
These loonies never fail to amaze me.

Serious Math FAIL!
That's 4,000,000,000,000.
