Right wing nut home schoolers support Perry:

Incredibly, they're allowed to vote. I'm beginning to support some kind of literacy and civics test again before someone is allowed to vote.

1. yay...another [self-censored] proposing denying the vote
Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 07:51 AM by ProdigalJunkMail
to the illiterate...based on a stupid fucking sign that could easily be 'shopped or just a damned omission of a single character. Hope there is nothing on that 'test' that YOU don't know.

sP

<self-censored> to TRY to stick within the DU rules...I doubt I succeed there...

4. It isn't shopped, it's real
For some reason the Rwers seem to have a spelling problem.

"No Pubic Option'
"Morans"
"English the ofical language"
and many, many more.

Lighten up, I don't think the comment was meant in the vein of the Jim Crow laws but more on the fact that these idiots seem to be proud of their ignorance.

5. Lighten up?
Unless you have been impacted by Jim Crow laws then you really have no standing to tell anyone to lighten up. Having grown up in the south, ive seen the impact of people trying to deny my parents and grandparent the right to vote. You just don't get it do you.

6. misspelling has very little to do with
Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 08:03 AM by ProdigalJunkMail
intelligence...or levels of ignorance. and i think it is quite frankly a little nuts that so many here put sooo much emphasis on it. really, the only example you give (of your three AND the one included in the OP) would be a true misspelling and not just an omission of a character. they may be idiots, but the thing is we don't really know that and cannot intelligently base criticism on a sign waved at some rally. would you so quickly discard a democratic sign or ideal because IT was misspelled? or do they have a legitimate issue they wish to make a point about???

8. You're comfortable with illiterate, ignorant right wingers
Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 08:10 AM by Gman
being worked up into a frothing rage (teabaggers) over deliberately inaccurate information and in many cases flat out lies? And they don't have the capacity to know the difference? I guess you're gonna love the results of the election in November. Screw them. When you have government determined by idiots you get idiotic government. I guess you loved the Bush years. Perfect idiotic government.

when repubs were in power...right. and you can shove your suppositions about what i love or don't love up your ass. you discard peoples' opinions because you don't like them. you look for a reason to call them ignorant so you can justify more easily your position. you are no better than they...

11. "cause dems have never been whipped into a rage
when repubs were in power"???? Specifically No, VERY specifically, just what were "dems" outraged over that was NOT based in solid fact? Just anything off the top of your head.... Maybe an illegal war? Anything else you can think of?

Do you not agree that Democrats in general are much more educated and enlightened than repubs? Do you not agree that Democrats are more educated than repubs? Does it not then follow that Democrats are on the side of reasoned and correct facts and therefore good government? Does it not also follow that repub policies are based on having their followers believe things incorrect in order to be able to make themselves richer at the expense of their stupid following and, as a result, the rest of the world and country?

14. i do not agree with your assertion that dems are better educated than pubs
it may be true in your area but i would say across the board that it is probably pretty similar (and i work in the education field). there are plenty of dumb redneck assholes down here in the south (not to say they aren't everywhere) who could not string together two coherent sentences if their lives depended on it who vote democratic party in every election.

your view of republicans as dumb or uneducated leads you to use terminology to refer to them as lesser people...and they are not. they may not think like the majority of DUers...but using inflammatory language to describe them and suggesting 'poll tests' to marginalize their voting ability is pretty fucking ridiculous and it serves the democratic party poorly. you may not like them...you may hate them...but there are a shitload of them in this country. you defeat them and change them with ideas and logic expressed in a respectful way. you do THIS sort of shit and you just piss them off and they will fight back.

politics is a pendulum...like it or not. this country sways back and forth from left to right. i don't think you would like for your 'current' ideas to be used against you.

15. Moderate Republicans often have a brain
Every right wing conservative voter I've ever known or even seen is dirt fucking stupid and uneducated. I really don't give a
damn who gets pissed. If they get pissed it's because
someone smarter than them told them they should be pissed. If we make dirt stupid
right wing nuts show they can think above a third grade
level we get better government.

Edited on Fri Feb-12-10 02:05 PM by LanternWaste
I would imagine the statement of the OP was rather tongue-in-cheek resulting from the exasperation brought on by the placard holder contrasted against the placard holder's position.

But then again, I'm not very clever and am compelled to deny a literal translation of everything that I come across...

ed: subject-verb agreement (because I'm not very clever, you see...)

13. Do you even read or understand history or current events for that matter??
The moron republican senator from South Carolina proposed this same type of "test" for the poor an uneducated in his state (a cloaked form of racism) just this past week at the tea baggers convention.

His cry for this bullshit hearkens back to as recent as 1958. Back then, civic tests and literacy laws in SC required any person take the test whom the election officials choose.

Interestingly enough, those tested were people from the African American community. Funny how that works, huh? (Jim Crow south wanting to limit the vote by the African American community) Those who were trying to exercise their vote, were poor and uneducated. However, the republicans racist opinion of that time believed, and seems to still exist today, they were unfit to vote.

So please, take your half witted comment and examine it a little closer. Next time, pause before you hit the "post message" button, it will save you an enormous amount of embarrassment.
