Harold Ford still claims Tennessee residence to beat NY taxes.
What a guy! Just like George H.W. Bush, who claimed Texas residence while he was in the White House, to avoid income tax, our favorite DLC carpetbagger is still claiming Tennessee residence to avoid NY State and NYC income taxes.

What a fucking fraud! But, we already knew that.

Harold Ford's Own Personal Tax Cut
Rachel Slajda | February 12, 2010, 2:20PM

In a big world, how can one person make a difference? How can one person, who sees the path to economic salvation in tax cuts for corporations and businessmen, have an effect when he's not in public office?

If that person is Harold Ford Jr., he does what he can: Cuts his own taxes.

Ford, who's considering a primary challenge of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), has never paid New York State income tax, a spokeswoman confirmed to Gawker today.

Ford's residency has been hazy. In interviews, Ford has said he's been commuting between Tennessee and New York since starting at Merrill. He says he's been an official New York resident since last year. But as Gawker points out, New York requires that even non-residents and partial residents pay income taxes. Tennessee, on the other hand, does not tax wages.

The spokeswoman said Ford, a former Congressman from Tennessee who works for Merrill Lynch, has never filed a return here, although he plans to do so this year.

3. You mean he never paid taxes on the money he was paid by...
...Gillibrand to run against her?

Without an opponent like him, she'd have to invent one. :D

4. I wish Spitzer would run. In spite of the escort issue.
How do NY'ers feel about Spitzer these days? Personally, I'd far rather vote for a man who used a prostitute than a politician that is a prostitute. We could use a man like Spitzer in the Senate. Frankly, I don't even care if he STILL is frequenting hookers. At least the man has the guts to go up against corporations, unlike most Democrats and no Republicans.

6. If I lived in New York, I'd be happy to vote for Spitzer. I wasn't familiar with him
before the brouhaha, but have seen him on several shows since and have been impressed.

7. This New Yorker would vote for him
But I'm okay with Gillibrand - she hasn't done anything worthy of "firing". I like her as Senator, Cuomo as Governor and Spitzer can be AG again (he did a fantastic job there) but the hooker thing did bring out the hypocrite in him.

8. I wonder what a poll would show his support at?
Seriously, he may broken the law, but IMO he didn't violate the public trust. And unlike Senator Vitter, Spitzer resigned his elected office. In my opinion, the shame of being exposed and the resignation are enough penance paid.

10. Too soon for his wife and kids
I'm willing to give Elliot another chance, however, his wife and kids need some time before they are watching attack ads about hookers and their husband and father again.
