Seven dollar myths

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Global_Economy/ID28Dj01.html

Without shying away from controversy, we do away with a number of myths of why the US dollar ought to move up or down.

(I'm only posting the Headings, you will have to read the article for the 'whys' and 'wherefores')

Myth I: The dollar is safe because the
US has ample assets

Myth II: The dollar is doomed because
of the large US budget deficit

Myth III: A lower dollar will cure the trade deficit

Myth IV: A lower trade deficit will save the dollar

Myth V: A weak economy causes a currency to falter

Myth VI: China is the problem

Myth VII: Higher interest rates help the dollar

-snip-

There are many more myths about the dollar, but the selection above may provide some food for thought.

1. VIII: A dollar bill can be folded so that Washington's head looks like a mushroom.

7. I think economics is an arcane science.
Almost unfathomable, more so than psychology. But they might also be related.
