I've been unemployed a lot since the spring of 2008 - about 4 months in 2008, 4 months in 2009 and now going on 2 months so far in 2010 but have at least managed to find work for at least part of the year (not really before springtime each year though). Compared to you I guess I'm lucky.

13. FYI COngress will likely extend those benefits .... BUT ....

Because of republican obstructionism - several hundred thousand to a million will see an interruption in benefits for several weeks during March.

12. I was unemployed since Apr '09 ....

and for 9 months more before that via disability due to Chemo (everything worked out A-OK btw) ...

And just last Friday I got a pretty decent job at a local University !
Yes, it's only about 60% of what I used to make and yes, it's only 4 months "temp" but with a great possibility of conversion to full-time .... but...

It's really great work - exactly what I want to do and exactly where I want to be. Nice bennies too for a temp gig - frankly better than most full time jobs I have had recently....

and I take home about 150% more than I am getting on unemployment.

So hang in there - keep trucking and something will come out there if you beat the streats and hustle for it.
(FWIW I got the gig on Craig's list which is GREAT for quite a few fields)
