I participated in my first food-share today.
I was handing out food and clothes today in Hempstead, Long Island with the Food Not Bombs movement and other Hofstra students.

4. Thank you for doing this.
So many kids lost reduced school meals, and parents lost work hours, due to the snow. This is really needed.

6. You completely forget about the cold since you're mind is focused on helping people.
It didn't help that I had forgone gloves and hiking boots.

Nevertheless, it is kind of sad to see about 100 hungry and/or destitute people bumrush the tables for an hour straight. We had ridiculous amounts of bread and bananas (40 crates!) today and people were still shoving. I could see myself doing the same thing if I was in their position and trying to feed a family.
