Up, Up and away. (large pic)
Edited on Tue Feb-16-10 10:17 AM by TheBigotBasher

This is Mount Roraima, nine thousand feet high, two billion years old, with a rocky, flat top five miles long completely isolated from the surrounding jungle. While it may look like something from the film Avatar it has already served another purpose for the Hollywood Movie Industry. It served as an inspiration for the Pixar animated film Up.

Yes, 2 billion years is greater than 6,000 years and this mountain has seen 4 Super Continent cycles and is about three times as old as multi cellular life.

Kind of puts things in to perspective.

Just to add it has lots of carnivorous plants there too, just in case you fancy a visit.

5. Where's the Starbucks?
Can ExxonMobil drill there?

Will Bill Gates or Sheldon Adelson or Warren Buffett build a mansion there?

A stunning photo.
