I get more confused every time I read this AP story. I have read it about 5 times and I am more confused now than after the first read. I can't make heads or tails out of what happened here. Its makes my head hurt to try and understand whats going on. See if you have any better luck?

One is behind bars in a North Carolina prison, a hit man hired to kill a pregnant woman whose boyfriend was a professional football player.

The other sits in a Hillsborough County jail cell, accused in a shooting rampage late last week that left one dead and two others wounded.

Van Brett Watkins.

Andre Watkins.

Two brothers now both linked to deadly violent crimes.

At 49, Van Watkins is the younger. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after the November 1999 shooting of Cherica Adams, girlfriend of then-Carolina Panthers receiver Rae Carruth.

Andre Watkins, 53, has been described as a "ticking time bomb" who has a "history of bizarre behavior." He has been arrested on numerous charges in the past 14 years, including battery on a pregnant woman, retaliation against a witness and grand theft, records show.

Both brothers have exhibited outrageous behavior in the legal system.

1. Reader's Digest version: two criminals happen to be brothers.
Probably not the first time.
