Disillusioned Bayh advocates electoral “shock” to broken system
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100216/ts_ynews/ynews_ts1134;_ylt=Av5LrFuhCwy_CaPGGBlus0as0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTFpbTlxM3VkBHBvcwMzNwRzZWMDYWNjb3JkaW9uX21vc3RfcG9wdWxhcgRzbGsDZGlzaWxsdXNpb25l

In an interview on MSNBC this morning, newly retiring Sen. Evan Bayh declared the American political system "dysfunctional," riddled with "brain-dead partisanship" and permanent campaigning. Flatly denying any possibility that he'd seek the presidency or any other higher office, Bayh argued that the American people needed to deliver a "shock" to Congress by voting incumbents out en masse and replacing them with people interested in reforming the process and governing for the good of the people, rather than deep-pocketed special-interest groups.

Bayh's announcement stunned the American political world, as up until just last week he looked to be well on his way to an easy reelection for a third term in the Senate, and his senior staff was aggressively pursuing that goal.

1. Maybe he'll join the teabaggers and others who "want their country back",
and who are mad. Problem is that he is mad at himself, as he represented exactly what's broken in Washington. He was someone pursuing protecting status quo and deep pocketed special interest groups.

Perhaps now that Corporations will be taking over,
he's no longer needed.

3. Fuck off, Evan.
You're actively wishing death on your own party here--you realize that don't you?

And you have got a LOT of gall bitching about "special-interest groups" when you took more money from them than most of your colleagues.

4. This guy's hypocrisy levels are quite literally pathological
Wouldn't it be something if the corporate media actually grew a pair and had the temerity to point out the bloody obvious.

5. Beware of anyone advocating "shocks" to the system
It's how RWers manage to pull the wool over everyone's eyes.

It's the oldest game in town.

7. Scumbag tool. He reported to the media that Obama asked him to run
and he refused his request. This is something that should have been
kept confidential and between him and the President.

8. What a hypocritical piece of shit you are, Bayh.
As a former president of the DLC (and a lifetime member of that treasonous bunch of infiltrating assclowns) YOU broke the system, you worthless son of a bitch! :grr:

9. maybe the moderate republicans and the conservadems should form a party
and the nation can move back to a more moderate centrist position. get rid of the theocrats, birthers, john birchers, kkk, palin-o-cons. since the nation is more to the left, politically, than our politicians, the left will draw some from this center on important issues.

and those of us who thought that voting for a democrat meant voting for the president's agenda.

republicans enforce party discipline.

bayh is stupid to cater to the deficit hawks now. we are still in the midst of a painful economic mess.
