Let the President Know - About a Better Approach to Reform, Medicare for All
http://www.healthcare-now.org/

"President Obama recently said, "If anyone from either party has a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medicare for seniors, and stop insurance company abuses, let me know."

We should let him know that single-payer, Improved Medicare for all, accomplishes all those goals.

Call the White House at 202-456-1111. Tell them, "I'm letting you know that improved Medicare for all (HR 676) is better than the health bill proposed by Congress."

If you have another second, email the President here to ask him to start from scratch on health reform.

And don't forget to call Congress for single-payer."

1. This notion that the prez & reps somehow 'don't get it' when they do, but don't care, is odd
I mean, do you actually believe that they're unaware of these things?

3. They know, but believe they can ignore people because there has
not been a loud cry for a national HC system.

7. Only a MASSIVE bodies-in-the-streets strike would do it - not emails

10. Unfortunately that will not happen until more people are hurting, and no sense
calling for that public option which will only enroll a small percentage of people.

13. Only after the public option was Marketed to the public as being...
"Like Medicare" and people were told it would lead to Medicare for All and it was also the only option.

But there are polls going back to the 80's showing significant support from the people for a national HC system funded by taxes, but the corporate media does not Sell that information to the people.

Any polls from 2006 showing support for the public option? How many people even heard of that idea in 2006.

In this latest sales pitch, most polls dropped the Medicare for All option as a choice and the public option was a diversion.

5. Better to stay silent and take what we are given...
they need to hear from a significant portion of people. We have our voices, our money and votes and need to use them wisely.

Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 12:46 PM by Oregone
He doesn't really want ideas. He wants to appear as if no one has them besides himself. It was rhetorical

29. The marketing of the public option and simultaneous silencing of
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 05:46 PM by slipslidingaway
a Medicare for All system.

This past summer I posted a bunch of links in the thread below which helped to show how the "public option, uniquely American, choice" idea was sold.

The only people that benefit from silencing Medicare for All advocates are the for profit companies that make a living off of the suffering of others.

So why were the Medicare for all people excluded and the for profit companies given prominent places at Congressional hearings and White House meetings. And what does that say about the people who had the power to extend the invitations.

:(

Uniquely American Solution - What is it ? Why is it being pushed?
