1. Why are you surprised?
This sort of backlash should be expected. Moyers outed them for the dirtbags they are. Can't have the public watching something that knocks them off their high horses.

3. Well, I was very disappointed
I used to think I could rely on this show to keep a critical eye on the media.

Not anymore; they blew it.

4. WGBH - Emily Rooney
Andy Rooney's daughter has a friday show on Channel 2 Boston, where they review the major stories of the week, supposedly with a critical eye.

7. You summed it up, devilgrrl
They mock and ridicule the truthtellers.

Just like their 'analysis' of the debates.

8. I would like her to sit down with Landay and Strobel and explain to them why THEY were the only
ones to get the Iraq intel story right. Or maybe she will try to convince them that they were only ones to get the story WRONG. Wouldn't put that past these mediawhores.

11. Basically calling him a hind sighter
called him sanctimonious, questioned the statements of the Iraq reporters on the ground, asked "If they knew there were no WMD, why didn't they speak up at the time". Said he was too harsh on the media, claimed he cherry picked excerpts from the original press briefing and ignored the hard questions that were asked by reporters at the time.

On and on...

It was as anti-Moyers, as last week's episode was pro-Imus.

I nearly choked on my beer.

12. I'm wondering, though...
just what was Moyers reporting four years ago?

13. Good question
In June 2003, Greg Thielmann — formerly of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, one of the offices charged with tracking Iraq's weapons of mass destruction — told Bill Moyers on NOW:

The intelligence community as a whole in our considered wording and advice did not give the President the impression that there was an imminent threat.... The one thing that we should have made clear to the American people was that Saddam had no nuclear weapons.

http://www.pbs.org/now/politics/roadtowar.html

I seem to recall Moyers was one of the disenting voices even then.

22. Moyers Was There From the Start
IIRC, Scott Ritter was one of his earliest guests on NOW.

15. Anyone with a computer knew the VP was using false evidence.
There was no hindsight required. We knew it in 2002.

16. Normally a good show, but the last couple weeks have been icky at best.
I'm not surprised at all that many "journalists" are pissed at Moyer's for showing people just how truly crooked and incompetent so many of them are.

19. I can understand why you would be confused
No, it was actually Beat the Press on PBS, despite sounding like Meet the Press, the show they are supposedly knocking.

Satire imitating farce.

20. Thanks! It doesn't sound like it's good if they criticized
the most laudible Bill Moyers. Don't know if I'll waste time watching it. The 'real thing' "Meet the Press" is probably better.

21. Timmy Boy was pretty prominently featured in Moyers' special
I don't know how charitable he's going to be, either. He just came across looking like one of the worst of the sanctimonious lapdogs. Sunday's show ought to be interesting...although I'd bet he's going to ignore it completely.
