Wall Street shrugs off unemployment figures...

U.S. stocks gain after latest economic data
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks tallied modest gains on Thursday after another round of economic data included a report pointing to accelerating manufacturing activity in the Philadelphia region. The industrial and material sectors fronted the rise. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDEX:INDU) was up 31.29 points at 10,340.53. The S&P 500 Index {s: $spx] added 2.14 points to 1,106.65. The Nasdaq Composite Index (NASDAQ:COMP) gained 2.58 points to 2,228.87.

After a brief decline prior to the market opening due to unemployment and rising inflation, Wall Streeters said "What the fuck, let's party!"

2. Unemployment is a GOOD thing!
Fewer salaries to pay, more people willing to work for minimum wage and no benefits--what's not to like about the profit picture here?
