One of the media elite's most whispered-about scandals went public Wednesday when married CNN correspondent Jeffrey Toobin squared off with a woman who says he's the father of her baby.

Yale-educated lawyer Casey Greenfield - the daughter of eminent CBS News analyst Jeff Greenfield - had a chilly faceoff with Toobin in Manhattan Family Court.

The ex-lovers barely spoke in the waiting area before joining their lawyers behind closed doors with a court referee to hash out custody and money issues.

Toobin, who glumly sat several rows away from Casey Greenfield before the hearing, is said to have privately admitted to fathering the child, believed to have been born last summer, sources said.

Why on earth, seabeyond are you assuming I am letting the woman "slide" in terms of her responsibility. Toobin is the public figure who ironically has written extensively on Clinton's downfall. It is that irony that causes me to comment on him specifically. That does NOT mean I do not find them equally "at fault" for their impulsive and irresponsible decisions.


Actually, I am one of the few DUers who continually tried to bring up Edward's partner's culpability in his own episode. Most focused only on Edwards and made it seem like R. Hunter was the "victim" That seems to continue to be the case.

don't want to give a woman power over you forever, don't have a child with her. As a woman, i have no idea what the difference is between wearing a rain coat or not, but is it worth the risk of ending up like Mr. Tobin or Levi Johnston?
