3. I remember that Romper Room
lady. I also remember wanting her to "see" me so badly every time and she never did. I hate that woman to this day, ruined my life because she never saw me in the magic mirror ;-)

11. Related tidbit.. sort of.. :)
Miss Mary Ann King who hosted Los Angeles area Romper Room TV program, is a long time resident of my town, and she also co-hosts our annual 4th of July parade on local cable access t.v.. we used to shop at the same Ralphs grocery store, and I have to tell you that Miss King always seemed to have that "don't you know who I am" attitude going on every time I saw her interacting with store staff..

That sort of ruined a cherished childhood memory of mine!

15. It can really suck to meet your
childhood idols. I remember meeting a guy who did a popular local kids show years later at the pub and he was half in the bag. It didn't matter that I was half in the bag too this guy was, for some weird reason, supposed to be better than that.

24. OTOH, it can be magical.
Years ago I went to a tag sale in Ct. I noticed an older man with kind of page boy haircut & bangs & realized it was the Captain--Kangaroo, himself. He knew I knew who he was, just smiled & nodded & I did the same. I wish I had asked to see what he had in his pockets!

7. Romper, bomper, stomper boo - I forget the rest
then, at one point she says "Magic mirror, tell me ...."

I don't remember much of it. But I was hoping she never saw me cuz it scared me that someone somewhere might be able to see me in my house.

I can totally hear Sarah say the "BOO!" She is scarey!

17. The Romper Room was started in Baltimore at WBAL
and the producer's wife Miss Nancy was the leader. I ABSOLUTELY HATED HER SHE WAS SO SO PRISSY. The guy made a lot of money off franchising that. I hope the other teachers were not like Miss Nancy.

26. She's just bilking the freepers for $$$ now...
I know she's not a brain surgeon, but I think she's smart enough to realize she'll never get elected dog catcher again (and she'd probably quit if she did...).

I think her M.O. now is to give as many bad speeches as possible for as much moolah as possible. You can buy Mr. Palin a bunch of fancy snowmobiles with all the $$$ the freepers will cough up to see you yammer on about god only knows what.

Then again, she may just be dumb enough to spend all that money on a run for the Oval Office. Fools & money are soon parted...
