'Cannabis Planet' TV show arrives in Bay Area
Oakland Tribune

Hot on the heels of new research showing marijuana's pain-relief value and the reintroduction of a bill to legalize, regulate and tax the drug, the Bay Area this week saw the premiere of its first marijuana-themed television show.

"Cannabis Planet," a 30-minute weekly program, is slated for a 26-week run on KOFY-TV Channel 20 at midnight Fridays.

The show — focusing on the merits of the marijuana plant in medicine, industry and agriculture, and "the benefits this plant brings to planet Earth, mankind and the United States," according to a news release — is already seen in the Los Angeles and San Diego markets, and will roll out in Sacramento in March and in Colorado this spring.

Weekly topics will include cannabis news and information, profiles of medical marijuana collectives, cannabis cooking, patient testimonials, celebrity interviews, music, entertainment and more. It's co-hosted by Ngaio Bealum, publisher of West Coast Cannabis Magazine, and Los Angeles medical marijuana activist Sarah Diesel; Oakland's Ed Rosenthal, the "guru of ganja" known for his horticultural expertise in marijuana, will serve as a resident expert offering cultivation tips, while Chef Michael Delao will cook up cannabis cuisine

2. Channel 20 kicks ass
I still recall them for their epic weekend-long Twilight Zone marathons.

When one of those was on, there was no other game in town. :D

5. How much does Twilight Zone rule?
Above like anything else, right?

6. Well, yeah
I mean, if mid-80's channel 20 was a president, it would be FDR.

Channel 2 would be Lincoln, and channel 44 would be Washington.

TV in the bay area back then kicked ass. :D

9. We had 3, 10, 13 and 31 and 40.
44 later. Of course PBS. That's what we had down in the vally.

I loved Creature Features on the old UHF 40 late on Saturday nights.

Bob, what was his name, Wilkenson? That weird guy with the toupee and glasses.

Vincent Price movies and women with cleavage. Heaven on a Saturday night.

We are so fucking weird.

In Victoria, a whole lot of people just showed up weekly in real life at Beacon Hill Park for Hempology, and smoked while learning a few hours. Now thats a weekly event.

8. It's funny in a pot-soaked kind of way.
Watch it and you will see what I mean. I've been watching it in LA for a while now. They have some good info, though. And they try. Good on them.
