Facebook pulls plug on Tax-icide tribute to Joseph Stack, pilot who crashed plane into Austin office

A Facebook fan page praising the Austin man who flew his plane into an IRS office, killing a Vietnam vet who worked inside, has been shut down by the social networking site.

Conservative talk show host Jon Alvarez of WFBM-AM 1390 in Syracuse created the group just hours after Andrew Joseph Stack carried out his crazed suicide mission Thursday to express his anger at the IRS.

Facebook removed the site within a day of its creation and e-mailed Alvarez to tell him that it bans posts that are hateful or threatening.

"This guy was making a sacrifice to others who were having problems with the IRS," Alvarez told Syracuse's Post-Standard newspaper. "We at least owed it to him to make note of his thoughts."

I guess we can thank Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News for the latest incident of right wing terrorism.

2. There are still 133 groups, some of which are very supportive.
That one may have been shut down, but there are many others. "Hero" my butt

3. He was making a sacrifice to others?
He killed and severly injured people. To try and make him a martyr is just plain ignorant and pathetic. Of course, I guess that we all know who is looking up to this guy don't we? Home-grown terrorist, in my book. No hero here.

13. He wasn't a martyr. He pushed himself up against the wall and shot himself.
Read the 'manifesto'. It ain't a manefesto, its a rant about his checkered tax payments and frustration over getting caught in a trap of his own devicement. His plane crash was just a capitulating move as his life pushed into a corner he built.

4. A dying nation
We lost ground inch by inch by making stupid decisions over and over to the point where terrorists and other assorted lunatics decided it was worth it to hit us.

In the end,our own extremists turned on us after having seen us get butchered from Iraq to Afghanistan.

Weakness like blood will always draw sharks.

if a person of Middle Eastern descent (despite his American citizenship) had done this then the incident would have been correctly identified as terrorism. Alas he is white so there's nothing here to see. Move on please, move on.

12. Nevertheless, I am more terrified by the IRS than I am about the possibility
of someone flying a plane into the building I work in.

6. Almost no news coverage about this
I saw more about Tiger than about this the past couple of days.

I will bet my bottom dollar that if he was a Muslim, it would have been non stop coverage.

Alvarez ran an anti-Hollywood campaign. Surprised he isn't working for Breitbart's BigHollywood.com

8. Fact...The man was a murderer.
He killed others, with an airplane...and it is only by blind luck/providence, that others did not die.

The only difference between tis and another infamous terrorist act, is the scope.

The RW assholes that think this is somehow "good" or "noble"...have no shame at all.

9. Once again
the RW lunatic fringe praise the killing of an AA, and it's a disgrace that all of their sites have yet to be shut down.

R.I.P. to the victim Vernon Hunter and my thoughts go out to his family. The RW M$M would rather focus on the "youthful indiscretions" (which is what this would be called if Tiger had been white and well over the age of "youth") of a billionaire sports figure rather than the story of the dedicated and patriotic Vietnam Vet, family man, and church leader who suffered at the hands of an insane kook. This is no different than them glossing over the number of AA adults and children who perished in the Murrah bombing thanks to a similar pair of kooks.

10. "This guy was making a sacrifice to others who were having problems with _________"
When the blank is our government then that "guy" is not only a terrorist, but those that support those actions are enemies of the State.

It was only a matter of time when anti-government extremists who are being fueled by Beck, Teabaggers et. al. took action. Sadly, it will not be the last.

... and that the d-bag is suspended, at a minimum, from his radio show, as well.

14. And yet there a still three lovefest pages devoted to Timothy McVeigh on fb.
I've reported them to fb and the FBI, and they're still up. So I'm glad the Stack thing is down, but fb is really inconsistent about this kind of crap.

19. JON ALVAREZ? That clown behind Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood?
Rob Corddry of The Daily Show interviewed him back in 2003 in the segment Red Menace.

Good thing that Facebook pulled this horrible group. However, Facebook's also encountered controversy with a fan page for Mafia member Salvatore Riina.

20. Is This Guy Any Different From Scott Roeder, Who Assasinated Dr. George Tiller?
The scary thing is that the mainstream media is unwilling to call out this rise in right wing terrorism, and the right wing media of course is actively encouraging such violent acts.
