Kick & Rec if you'd LOVE to see Lawrence O'Donnell hosting "Meet The Press!"
Can you imagine the wingnuts shitting their pants while waiting in that particular green room???

Now, I know what some of you may be thinking: "The Republicans would NEVER go on with O'Donnell." Wrong! They wouldn't have any choice! Meet The Press is the longest-running program in television history, and a SOLID part of the political establishment.

Hey, the popcorn and beer I'd consume watching O'Donnell vs Cheney would wipe out two fucking years' worth of exercise!

1. I'd rather it be Rachel.
She's more even-tempered, but just as probing.

10. I love them both
Both Larry and Rachel do their homework and their arguments are grounded in facts. They are both passionate about quelling disinformation and calling people out--whomever they are-when they are intellectually dishonest. I would be pleased as punch if either of the two got the job. :)

13. I like Rachel's format
I like her geek moments, the fact that she has bartenders come on and make real drinks, her cocktail moments and her serious reporting and interviewing. I like that she stays with a story for days if it's necessary. She wouldn't be able to do any of that if she lost the daily hour. I think Lawrence would be perfect for MTP once a week.

You see, there's a reason why we're called "donkeys." You either have to do things our way, or shoot us. There is no middle ground.

14. I'd sure love to see that! My concern with Rachel is that she may
be stifled in what she can say on her regular show if she's the host (but I have no idea if I'm right in that or not.)

Same with O'Donnell -- He doesn't have a show, but I wonder if his hosting would impact what he could freely say when he's a guest.

Anybody know?

17. Well, there ARE certain guidelines.....
...but you can be certain that Larry, while not actually shouting, would be as dogged in not letting fools dodge the questions as his fellow Irishman, Tim Russert, was!

22. It ought to be a panel. I'll take O'Donnell, Maddow, Ratigan, and rotate a con or two
It could also make a good excuse to embarass The Eye on a weekly basis for a national audience so sign up Christie to be the whipping boy.

25. K&R for yes, but with the original format of a PANEL, as in "the Press" before
greedy G.E.RUSSERT gobbled it all up for himself. I was wary of O'DONNELL because of his working out of MOYNIHAN's shop, but Google is my friend and these tidbits make me like him better:

**********QUOTE********
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_O'Donnell
O'Donnell made himself a key figure in the coverage of the Valerie Plame scandal by naming Karl Rove as the primary source for Matt Cooper's story. He is well known for his strong dislike of California's current governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. He calls himself a "practical European socialist."<2> His aggressive debate style has led to several notable on-air confrontations. In October 2004, while a guest on the MSNBC show Scarborough Country, O'Donnell shouted "liar" over and over again at fellow guest Swift Boat Spokesman John O'Neill.<3><4> In May 2005, while serving as a guest panelist the CNBC program Dennis Miller, O'Donnell began shouting at fellow panelist Cathy Seipp on the issue of public education and teachers. In August 2009, while guest hosting MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, O'Donnell accused Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) of lying about health care reform proposals and of hypocrisy for opposing government-run health care while failing to call for the repeal of Medicare and Social Security.<5>

During an episode of The McLaughlin Group in December 2007, during a discussion of Mitt Romney's "Faith In America" speech, O'Donnell voiced criticisms of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that garnered a great deal of media attention. O'Donnell continued his comments about Mitt Romney and Mormonism during an in-depth interview with radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, wherein he criticized other religions including his own Catholic faith, Martin E. Marty, professor of religious history at the University of Chicago, said of O'Donnell's comments, "criticism is one thing; hate-speech and untruths are another."<[br />

Ultimately, politics provided the backdoor through which O'Donnell returned to his first love, Hollywood. As Bill Clinton's administration wound to a close, a group of Democrat Washington insiders gathered in 1999 to create the NBC prime time drama The West Wing, set in a liberal Democratic White House. O'Donnell, along with Jimmy Carter administration pollster Pat Caddell, wrote or contributed to at least nine West Wing episodes during its first two seasons. He also worked as the series' executive story editor and producer, and he acted in one 2001 episode.
