Will the Government take any action to keep gas prices low for the summer? I believe that the rising prices are mostly speculation. I hope the government will stomp on these speculators. I hope we can get off the petroleum teat ASAP, but we don't need the big oil corps siphoning off any extra money in the publics pockets right now. What do you think will happen?

1. The government will stomp on these speculators like they stomped on bankers

It's easier to start saving money for higher gas prices. If the oil companies think they can get away with it, they will.

5. I'm not sure what is "odd" in your post. All I am seeing is that last
year, in my area, gasoline was about $1.80 per gallon. Today it is up to $2.59 per gallon here. I think our business is suffering because of this as is the business of our little tourist town, in general. I don't see our coming year being very good if gas goes up over $3.00 as is being predicted on the Yahoo stock market page, etc. What do you think is odd? I gots to know......

8. It would have been nice if der Chimpenfurher had taken Hugo Chavez up on his offer, huh?

Chavez offered a 10 year contract to the chimp to sell the US oil at $50 a barrel... dumbass turned him down. How could their cronies get rich off of oil at those prices??? The Afghanistan/Iraq invasions and occupations were for the sole purpose of destabilizing the Middle East to drive up oil profits...

7. The reality is the sooner you accept that oil has been hugely undervalued in the past
the sooner you can make rational decisions.

My prediction is that after economy recovers we get to $4-$5 a gallon as a "new normal". You will see $10 gas in your lifetime. Hell your kids may see $20 a gallon.

China is adding an ENTIRE US worth of people to the middle class every 5 years. Imagine that. They all want cars, and microwaves, and TVs. Think the 1960s but for China. India, Brazil, aren't far behind.

The speculators sped up the timetable but $4+ is coming and it will happen. There is nothing you can do about it. We can raise CAFE standards 50%. We can drill everywhere possible. It wont' matter $4 gasoline is coming.

Personally I don't really care if it is next summer or summer of 2013. The sooner we accept the new reality the faster alternative energy ramps up.
