Despite massive recalls, deaths, quality issues, Consumer Reports continues to recommend Toyota???
As I mentioned before, Toyota isn't the only casualty in all of this. Consumer Reports continues to have a tin ear for this scandal by essentially ignoring all the bad news about Toyota and recommending them anyhow!

Toyota finished third on Consumer Reports’ annual Automaker Report Card even though the magazine suspended ratings for eight of Toyota’s vehicles due to recent recalls.

Well, if you don't count the 9 models that are recalled, then Toyota is tops! :wtf:

1. This is way overblown. Now's a good time to buy a new Toyota, and enjoy the "bad press" discount
Millions of incompetent American drivers can't be wrong, can they?

If you don't have the wit to shift into neutral, you shouldn't be driving.

5. Some drivers have claimed to have shifted into neutral...
Also being heard from Tuesday are drivers like Rhonda Smith, a Sevierville, Tenn., woman whose Toyota-made Lexus suddenly zoomed to 100 miles per hour as she tried to get it to stop -- shifting to neutral, trying to throw the car into reverse and hitting the emergency brake. Finally, her car slowed down before she crashed.

3. my conspiracy realist mind smells a rat. all of a sudden, after the
auto bailout, toyotas are no longer reliable cars? maybe U.S. cars are now better? catch me in five years, and i'll wager toyotas will still keep their value better than a ford.

6. In 5 years I would still buy a Ford over a Toyota
Toyota quality has been hyped for too long and the public is just now learning that they were duped all those years.

Last Toyota I drove was falling apart and it only had 6000 miles on it.

8. I'll buy a Toyota after this episode, because
I know they have learned their lesson about hypergrowth at the expense of quality. Toyota got burned royally and they'll be sooooo paranoid about quality after this.

10. Consummer reports magazine is a fraud
We used to have a rainbow vacuum cleaner that consumer reports highly recommended. The first time I used it to clean our pellet stove I found out that the pan of water at the bottom, the filter medium, does not work with ashes. I'm cleaning away and thinking this is great I won't have to worry about the vacuum catching fire in case any embers are still there but here in a little bit I notice that it looks rather smokie between me and the stove and I turn around and look and the whole house was filled with dust. My wife about killed me when she got home cause it was a total wipe down of walls, ceilings and every thing in between. How I know that is I was the one doing the wiping.:-). We still have the vacuum its out in the old barn wasting away because we don't have confidence in it filtering very good plus now we only have wood floors. My big shop vac cleans the stove just fine and never lets any dust out into the room.

They don't take any money or anything up front they do it all off the books. Check out how they used to praised the TOYota's. I don't read them anymore after the vacuum deal as I don't trust that they are basing their shit on facts. My bet is they are a republicon loving crew too.

11. lol dude could the vacuum incident have been operator error, as my wife actually set ours on fire
and then proceded to blame the vacuum rather than her vacumming up hot embers :)
