Clyburn Denounces King For Making Excuses For IRS Attack

James Clyburn took to the House floor on Tuesday to denounce a fellow member of Congress for making excuses for the terrorist attack on the IRS building in Texas.

The South Carolina Democrat reacted furiously to comments made by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), who declined to denounce last week's attack and expressed empathy with pilot Joe Stack.

"It's sad the incident in Texas happened, but by the same token, it's an agency that is unnecessary and when the day comes when that is over and we abolish the IRS, it's going to be a happy day for America," King said.

(snip)

It was too much for Clyburn, the House majority whip. "The fact of the matter is that the gentleman that lost his life in that building, Vernon Hunter, is from -- was from Orangeburg, South Carolina, that I proudly represent in this body," said Clyburn. "He spent two tours in Vietnam and was about the business of carrying out his duties and responsibilities to this great country of ours. If anybody is a hero, it is this victim. And I find it appalling that a member of this body would call his death a noble happening."

1. Yay Freakin' Yay! Thanks Rep Clyburn for
pointing out the craven idiocy of someone like the hack, steve king, from Iowa.

And, now we know that Vernon Hunter was a Vietnam Vet .. "It was too much for Clyburn, the House majority whip. "The fact of the matter is that the gentleman that lost his life in that building, Vernon Hunter, is from -- was from Orangeburg, South Carolina, that I proudly represent in this body," said Clyburn. 3. What is the IRS-bashing King doing in the government if he dislikes it so much?
If King wants small government, perhaps he should just not participate at all rather than legislate for "limited government". I smell some tea-baiting coming up...that'll be the new "red-baiting".

4. What do the expect from a republican??
Is there any more callous, ignorant, self indulgent and so lack in dignity persons going than a republican? They are the group of people who wished democrats had brain cancer like Ted Kennedy. And if someone had said anything bad about the piece of crap Cheney they would have messed themselves.

I want to say again, I do not wish Cheney ill, I hope he pulls thru. I am just saying the republicans are the type that can slur and call democrats names, but get bend out of shape if any one even suggests that a republican lacks moral being.

5. These repugs really think the day will come when we do not need
the IRS to collect taxes? I am afraid of the world that will exist then. Pure anarchy & dog eat dog.
