12 Ways to Save Tax Money -- Huffington Post quotation

As President Obama tries to get his new bipartisan "deficit commission" off the ground, a public interest group is proposing a series of common-sense measures that would save American taxpayers more than a trillion dollars by closing corporate tax loopholes and eliminating wasteful government contracts.

The deficit commission's most ardent supporters see it as a way to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits that go to the needy; the recommendations from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group instead target the greedy.

"A lot of the heart of this is looking at shifting the burden to corporations and away from American families and taxpayers," said Nicole Tichon, a tax and budget reform advocate for PIRG.

Here are the group's 12 policy recommendations. Which ones do you think are the best?

I like them all.

1. Those are all very good ideas...
they may be too common sense for anyone in DC to understand and they will certainly be met with screaming and tears from the those these ideas are aimed at. Those freemarketeers do not believe they should pay their fair share of taxes and they certainly do not want to see the end of the government tit they have been sucking on for 30 years.

But for those of us who are not rich and who do not own many lobbyists, this is a great idea.
