Repub strategy is very simple and totally transparent: they make shit up to suit their purpose.
They have decided that truth is something that they can simply create. If they repeat a statement often enough and loud enough on enough radio and TV broadasts, that statement becomes "true" no matter how patently false or ridiculous it may have been when first announced.

Congressman Eric Cantor, the GOP's version of Eddie Haskell, appeared on my TV to announce that President Obama would be wrong not to abandon his health care plan at Thursday's summit, since "America has rejected" that plan. That load of BS was not challenged, of course, by any of the "journalists" recording his remarks, but they are not alone.

If a Republican politician is speaking on camera lately, it seems they can't resist telling Americans what Americans think and Americans believe. They also know what Americans don't want. That list includes "Obamacare", lengthy health care plans, short health care plans, Democrats' socialist solutions to non-existent problems and, of course, Americans REALLY don't want to allow Bush's tax cuts for the obscenely wealthy to expire.

These smarmy script readers do this all the time and I have yet to hear them called on it or challenged to substantiate these sweeping statements about what we want. Contrast that with the way Democrats are grilled on the Sunday talk shows, especially Meet The Press.

1. You just figured this out?
Just teasing. :hi:
You're absolutely right, of course. They used to at least be a little more subtle about it. They hired PR people and psychologists and linguists and played games with language to try to narrow the political discourse. That was also lying but they tried to be clever about it.

Now... they just outright blatantly lie. Some of them know they're lying, but I think a few of them are lying to themselves as much as they're lying to us.

4. My guess is that they're out of catch phrases...

that and the fact that they have no more economy left to rob blind.

I'm sure they'll think up some new evil to serve their purposes.

5. And they know that it works wonderfully well. It makes a much stronger impression than the truth.

It's what their minions want to hear so the minions willingly believe, and repeat it.

6. If you are just coming to this realization...

Which I somewhat doubt ...since your op reflects intelligence and a strong grasp of polital/newsmedia reality...

Welcome to our world. :) Glad to have another come to this realization. I used to think corporations taking over the world were just movie plots. I used to think a lot of things that turned out to be lies. I am still having to adjust my worldviews.. I never thought that in this country torture and war based on lies were forgivable as "bad judgment"...just one example.

If not...and you have just seen about enough to form the core belief that all the pubs lie all of the time..generally speaking.. thank you for OP reminding everyone this unsung truth. A truth that has been true for as long as I can remember. Since watching cspan in 1988.

7. Um...yup, and their purpose is to further muddle the already muddled minds for their fan base...
The big push today throughout RW hate-media, as though mimicking a talking point from a bulk email; was to blame Obama for some increase somewhere in suicide and domestic violence upon men from women, and from women upon men for the lack of jobs that Obama said he would create but hasn't - it really is the sickest kind of shit these sick-minded anti-American republicans find so much validation in = disgusting :puke:

9. The Swiftboaters is the first example that comes to my mind.

And I know I could go on and on. It's a tactic that has so worked well for them in the past.
If you repeat a lie loud enough and often enough sooner or later it becomes accepted as fact.
