Intreresting: Gavel released Pentagon Papers, 5 month filibuster that ended draft

Prominently known for his release of the Pentagon Papers, the secret official study that revealed the lies and manipulations of successive U.S. administrations that misled the country into the Vietnam War.
In 1971, he waged a successful one-man filibuster for five months that forced the Nixon administration to cut a deal, effectively ending the draft in the United States. He is most prominently known for his release of the Pentagon Papers,

1. It's a shame Gravel left Washington, but he said he grew tired of the horrible corruption.
I can't blame him for that.

3. History is repeating itself. Gravel is teaching us that we must know where we have
been....in order to know where to go....

We must take to the streets.

On a week-day.

Stop commerece.

It must be a massive outpouring of citizens.

Otherwise..its business as usual.

Which is of course.......continued death

4. Gravel is a hero
And I don't use that word often. Gravel has done more for this country than all the other candidates combined. This country needs someone who has principals and sticks to them even if no one else will. The One man filibuster of the draft serious just makes me want to shake his hand and tell him thank you.

5. I know, we might just have had a hell of a lot more people dead...
during the reign of terror and error of old Bush if the draft hadn't ended. I can't even begin to imagine what George and friends would do with a couple million turning 18 each year.

6. K & R. I think America may finally be ready for him. We're all so fed up with "the usual"
b.s. from our politicians, and their truck-loads of money from big rich donors and corporations.

Gravel & Kucinich are the only two on that debate panel the other night that had anything of substance to say.

9. Gavel - Kuchinich in '08!
If America really was what America claims itself to be, politicians like Gavel and Kuchinich would be the norm, not the dismissible exception to it.
