Meg (Whitman)'s new ad pushes eBay, stars some interesting friends -- and never mentions GOP
Quelle surprise.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=57866&tsp=1

Take a look at latest Meg Whitman TV spot, which stars a lot of glowing tributes from former eBay folks -- and lots and lots of shots of the eBay logo -- but barely mentions Whitman's own 2010 campaign for California governor. And missing entirely: the word "Republican."

The 60-second "Executive Leadership" spot could serve as a great commercial for eBay -- as it does for Whitman. But she never specifically mentions she's running for California governor, and her campaign isn't even spelled out...until that print silently pops up in the last five seconds of the 60-second spot.

Maybe the stars of the spot should have been better identified, too: one is linked with a firm that, according to finance statements, has earned nearly $3 million consulting with Meg's 2010 gubernatorial campaign....

*Rajiv Dutta -- Ebay's former chief financial officer, and current president of Skype, the online communications firm in which eBay still has a big stake. But Dutta also helped co-found Tokoni, an online networking firm that campaign expenditure reports show has reaped nearly $3 million from eMeg's gubernatorial effort for work as "campaign consultants" and information technology services.

Wonder if Rajiv Dutta is aware that Whitman once donated to Sen. George Allen (R-Macaca)? And do we now have to boycott Skype? :scared:

1. This is getting popular among conservatives. Don't say what your party is.
They do it in my county for local elections. It drives me crazy having to root around to find a candidate's registration before I can vote.

2. She also refuses to debate any of her opponents, have any kind of press conference, or disclose
her financial records as other candidates have pledged to do. She may have done well at E-Bay, but running a state is way different than running a business.

4. She came to eBay well after they were on their way to the top

her approach to growing* the company was to buy out other companies like PayPal and Skype. This is Silicon Valley's version of the Wall Street three-card monte game. :eyes:

5. So how do we make sure she becomes the next Al Checchi?
Edited on Wed Feb-24-10 05:50 PM by KamaAina
The last attempt to buy the California state house outright ended in an EPIC FAIL.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Checchi

Alfred Attilio Checchi (June 6, 1948) is an American politician who was a candidate for Governor of California in the 1998 gubernatorial election, losing to fellow Democrat Gray Davis in the June 1998 primary. Checchi finished in second place in the Democratic primary, capturing 12.49% of the vote. He ran as a New Democrat and called for increased spending on education. He set a new record at the time for spending in a California gubernatorial race, spending over $40 million dollars of his personal fortune. Checchi had previously enjoyed success in various business ventures, most notably serving as co-chairman of Northwest Airlines.

What do we have to do to make sure Whitman joins him in the graveyard of megabucks political nitwits?

6. Not according to republitards, they believe that a businessman makes great public
servants, whats even better is when the business person has run a number of businesses into the ground.

7. Should be required that she makes clear her party.
affiliation. "running a state is way different than running a business" So true, thought the same thing when I saw her T.V. ad for the umpteenth time. Her commercial is always on where are the others? Has a Dem declared? I will do everything in my power to make sure a Republican does not win again.

9. Astoundingly, Jerry Brown has not declared
Goddess help us if he pulls an Evan Bayh on us. :scared:

Isn't his non-declaration putting him at a fundraising disadvantage, particularly since Meg Witless is made of money?

8. Every time we refer to Republican Meg we need to include her party.
Every ad her opponents issue should refer to Republican Meg.

The Party of No wants Republican Meg to be governor of California.

Republican Meg, another billionaire Republican, wants to run our state.

Republican Meg Whitman rewards her friends well to say yes to her campaign to keep California in Republican hands.

10. That's how republicans win in "blue" areas.. they resort to "V" tactics, hiding their true selves
but always ready for the lizard to pop out after they are elected:puke:

Even political signs by roads will not say "republican".. De,s usually DO put "democratic candidate for...." on theirs, but republicans try to pretend they are "independent"..
