Obama offers himself as business-friendly centrist
By PHILIP ELLIOTT
WASHINGTON

President Barack Obama is presenting himself as a business-friendly centrist whose main concern is America's competitiveness.

Speaking Wednesday to the influential Business Roundtable gathering of CEOs, Obama said people are frustrated with the economy, and the usual answers from the left and right aren't inspiring much confidence.

He urged more cooperation between government and business to achieve a balance between federal intervention and corporations run amok. As Obama put it, "It's not about being anti-business or pro-government; it's about being pro-growth and pro-jobs."

Obama said competiveness depends on investments in education, energy and increased exports. But he also said the U.S. must eliminate costs and risks that are holding it back.

1. I once heard an Air America caller characterize Obama as
"just another Bill Clinton with better morals".

So far, I agree..and I'm not exactly excited about it.:boring:

2. I think I prefer Bill Clinton's morals, too.
I always prefer my leader to screw his mistress instead of fucking his country.

11. I agree. As much as Bill Clinton created mass poverty, he was better
for the country than Obama. :(

So NAFTA, DOMA, DADT, '96 Telecommunications Act, repealing Glass-Steagall, Rwanda, and leaving us with no health care, Welfare reform, and the economy doing well only due to a DOT.com boom (only reason we ended up with surpluses of 200 billion was tax base increase via new millionaires) wasn't us getting fucked in the ass? Well, I beg to differ. Barack ain't done none of that shit, and he doesn't fuck around on his wife either.

I don't where y'all's reality resides, but trust me, we all got fucked mightily......some just like
it since bubba was doing it nice and slow, while Bush did it hard, fast and furious. Obama
ain't fucked us to date. Quit making shit up!

20. I'm not sure the analogy applies in Clinton's case as I believe he did both.
..NAFTA, The Telecommunications Act, Continuation of the HB-I Visa program which brought in a multitude of foreign workers who replaced American workers, expecially in the IT sector.

Clinton, in my opinion, was even more "business friendly" than Obama.

3. In other words, a friend of Wall Street, to which "competitiveness" means laying off workers
Edited on Wed Feb-24-10 06:36 PM by Nikki Stone1
No way you're gonna get jobs out of that.

10. Except Obama also said that he is pro-jobs
That doesn't mean he is for laying off workers.

12. Being competitive in Wall Street jargon means having fewer workers that are paid less
It also means no union representation at all. That's what Wall Street means. Obama knows that.

Americans productive through fair wages and good benefits.

He says it all the time.....

Y'all just get to make shit up now. Ain't that special. Not!

13. Pro-jobs means he'll "encourage them" to hire people
and give them government money to do it.

But he has shown that being pro-business comes first. So if they want to fire lots of people because it increases their bottom line, hey, that's business. He will stand back and not say a word.

:(

If his policies result in a business laying off 1,000,000 people, and then using subsidies to rehire 1,000, he'll have a press conference to celebrate that they've successfully put 1,000 people back to work! Ignoring the other 999,000 people.

That's how politics works. :(

The DLC New Team
Progressives Need NOT Apply

(Screen Capped from the DLC Website)

This was a huge "Fuck You!" to the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party.
You could hear the laughter all the way to Chicago.

Brand Obama was a frighteningly successful Corporate Marketing Campaign in 2008.
Even Team Hillary was blinded by the Razzel Dazzel.

Razzel Dazzel
from the soundtrack Chicago
(how is THAT for irony !)

Give 'em the old razzle dazzle
Razzle Dazzle 'em
Give 'em an act with lots of flash in it
And the reaction will be passionate
Give 'em the old hocus pocus
Bead and feather 'em
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?
What if your hinges all are rusting?
What if, in fact, you're just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle 'em
And they;ll never catch wise!

Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle 'em
Give 'em a show that's so splendiferous
Row after row will crow vociferous
Give 'em the old flim flam flummox
Fool and fracture 'em
How can they hear the truth above the roar?
Throw 'em a fake and a finagle
They'll never know you're just a bagel,
Razzle dazzle 'em
And they'll beg you for more!

Give 'em the old double whammy
Daze and dizzy 'em
Back since the days of old Methuselah
Everyone loves the big bambooz-a-ler
Give 'em the old three ring circus
Stun and stagger 'em
When you're in trouble, go into your dance
Though you are stiffer than a girder
They'll let you get away with murder
Razzle dazzle 'em
And you've got a romance

Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle 'em
Show 'em the first rate sorceror you are
Long as you keep 'em way off balance
How can they spot you've got no talent
Razzle Dazzle 'em
And they'll make you a star!

21. Obama didn't call himself a business-friendly centrist.......
that's what newsweek said.

Folks having a baby because Obama dared talked to the business community is childish, immature, and well, nearly dangerous. Obama is not a fucking Socialist, and never advertised that he was.

Kucinich fucking lost the primaries, so.get.fucking.over.it.
