Gary Hart-Ltr To Giuliani-"You Are Not Qualified To Criticize Others-Let Alone Be President Of USA"
An Open Letter to Mayor Giuliani (32 comments )
READ MORE: Gary Hart, United States, U.S. Democratic Party, George W. Bush
Dear Mayor Giuliani:

Since you have based your presidential campaign almost exclusively on your reaction to terrorist attacks on New York City, and since you have recently accused Democrats of being on the defense against terrorism and therefore guilty of inviting more casualties, I have one question for you: Where were you on terrorism between January 31, 2001, and September 11th?

The first date was when the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century issued its final report warning, as did its previous reports, of the danger of terrorist attacks on America. The George W. Bush administration did nothing about these warnings and we lost 3,000 American lives. What did you do during those critical eight months? Where were you? Were you on the defensive, or were you even paying attention?

Before you qualify to criticize Democrats, Mr. Giuliani, you must account for your preparation of your city for these clearly predicted attacks. Tell us, please, what steps you took to make your city safer.

Until you do, then I strongly suggest you should keep your mouth shut about Democrats and terrorism.

You have not qualified to criticize others, let alone be president of the United States.

Gary Hart
(co-chair, U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century)

P.S. You might ask these same questions of George W. Bush while you are trying to find a better reason to run for president.

5. ALRIGHTY THEN!!!! K&R!!! WTG, Mr. Hart! Rudy really needed an ego adjustment
and I think he just got one.:bounce:

It still boggles the mind that he thinks he's qualified to be prez just because he was the MAYOR of NY on 911. One would think that would have DISQUALIFIED HIM, but what the hell do I know.:eyes:

9. Gary Hart..The greatest president we never had
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 05:14 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
Had it not been for "monkey business" he would have been nominated and trounced poppy bush.
This country really missed out on something great when his political career ended. It pains me to think where we'd be now if the Bush dynasties had never happened (with 8 years of Clinton capitulating in between) and a move to the left had followed the joke of Reagan.

Great letter. Glad to see he's still at it. I'd actually like to see him try another run.

13. While I do agree with you...
...that he's great and it was our loss, we should remember that he actively shot himself in the foot with that "Monkey Business" stuff. He basically taunted the media and dared them to follow him around. And then he didn't have the good sense to behave himself, so when they did follow him around, they found the rope to hang him with.

Too damned bad though.

14. Wasn't there a report done by Hart and Rudman about terrorism and how to combat it
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 05:54 PM by Toots
And wasn't that report sitting on Bush*'s desk when he took office? The report was never read however and all attention was for "star wars" missile defense. I believe Gore also authored a report concerning the terrorist threat to America and it was delivered to the Bush* Cabal and it also was never read, until after 9-11 anyway..probably still hasn't. If we were to go back and look at the number of terrorist attacks throughout the world year by year I think we would see an increase during Republican Administrations and under Bush* it is off the charts. The largest number during Clinton's term was in the four hundreds in 2000, in 2006 it was over fourteen thousand. During Reagans term the numbers were in the six hundred range. That is number of terrorist attacks world wide. Between Clinton and Bush* from four hundred attacks to over fourteen thousand attacks.

15. This is another reason why I have always liked Gary Hart. He would be a better president than any
of our current candidates.

I found points 1 and 11 on page 3 interesting as well as seeing Newt's name as part of the panel.
