Conan O'Brien joins Twitter
By Nellie Andreeva Nellie Andreeva – 19 mins ago

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – If Conan O'Brien's debut on Twitter is any indication Coco fever is stronger than ever.

In his first public comment since his final "Tonight Show" on February 12, O'Brien launched a Twitter account Wednesday afternoon, (at)conanobrien, and sent his first tweet. "Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me," he wrote on his page, which also includes his bio summed up as "I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account."

What followed was a wildfire on the microblogging site. Within the first three hours, O'Brien had more than 100,000 followers, with 1,000 new fans signing up every minute.

2. Am I the only one who doesn't think he's funny?
Surprised so many are bent out of shape for Leno taking his job. Good for Jay Leno.

8. Leno is a staunch union man.
His final show before Conan took his job from him was entirely a tribute to his union staff.

10. Conan the conservative
Yes, I'm sure all 'conservatives' would have things like the masturbating bear on their TV shows.

15. Conan's been a staunch Democrat since first voting for Mondale in 1984.
Although, he's more "moderate" than "leftie Progressive".

He's donated to Senator Dodd's campaign fund several times.

24. Seth McFarlane works for Fox.
He is a far cry from a conservative.

Fox News and Fox Entertainment are worlds apart.

27. I am not so sure in that Fox Entertainment likes to portray stupid as normal or
violence as normal or yelling as normal. I think they work in tandem.

17. Leno's also a Democrat. Moderate maybe.
His wife Mavis is on the board of the Feminist Majority Foundation, whose founder was involved with the NOW, and FMF is the publisher of Ms. Magazine.

President Obama has appeared on his show several times, once as President, and once during the campaign. I don't think Obama would have gone on his show if Leno was a Republican.

I don't think Mavis, being a liberal, would have married a Republican.

Although for some on DU, Leno possibly being a "moderate Democrat" is just as good as being a "Republican" I guess. :eyes:

18. Count me in
Don't think either one is worth missing a minute of extra sleep. All this fuss over too outrageously wealthy "entertainers" is just weird.

19. Same here..
I did't get either one of them, even before I got rid of the TeeVee altogether.

I really hated Leno though. Totally unwatchable.

4. "Good for Jay Leno"
it won't look good if his ratings tank! Might be the end of Leno.

Am I the only one who thinks Leno is not funny?

6. No, you are not alone. And Conan took Leno's job not the other way around.
People seem to have very short memories.

7. If you knew the whole story you probably wouldn't feel that way.
Jay Leno is a real piece of work. I don't have an opinion about Conan really. Sometimes he's funny, sometimes he's not. But he got a raw deal from NBC.

I will never watch Leno again. He is so typical of what's wrong with the world today. :puke:

16. My favorite part of the tonight show growing up was the guest hosts.
Leno ended that. When I was a kid I was so into Joan Rivers.

via Twitter a few weeks ago and I think Conan is jealous.
