Pissing off the Insurance Corporations |
|
Obama and some of the Democrats in Congress feel that the liberal wing of the party will be appeased if they sufficiently piss off the insurance corporations. When we accuse the President of not standing up to the Insurance industry, his spokesman says, "Oh yeah? Why are the insurance lobbyists fighting so hard against the bill?" The democrats are doing a lot of posturing right now... "Insurance companies better look out. We're gunning for you!"
Speaking as one of the liberals, I would just like to say, my goal isn't to piss off the insurance industry. If you pass some garbage bill, I won't be appeased if some Insurance exec goes on TV and throws a Nellie Olson about it. I really don't care what the Insurance industry thinks about the bill. I hope they stay profitable and (God willing) efficient in their administration of our healthcare system. I hope we can find a way to keep them happy and healthy. What I DO care about is being able to get affordable coverage, being able to get access to necessary healthcare, and not going broke because of some medical catastrophe. If that pisses of the corporations, so be it, but that's not a goal in and of itself.
Next time somebody brags that they are really cheesing off the Insurance Company, it's going to fall on deaf ears. Tell me some good news!

2. the Administration is not about to piss off ANY uber-corporation (neither is either party) |
|
In the Land of Citizens United v FEC where we now find ourselves, corporations rule and will purchase their representatives to make sure that this never changes.

6. Yes, but I don't care. If they're happy or sad, I still have to pay the premium. |

5. I won't be happy until insurance companies are out of the business |

of providing traditional health care coverage. The American people don't need a middle man to provide the coverage at outrageous commission and administration fees and profit.

7. I DON'T hope they stay profitable |
|
I hope they go out of business, like mimeographs and Zeppelins. Their business model is flawed and will never get rid of cherry picking only the healthiest customers and then denying them expensive treatments.
