Newborn Found Naked on Top of Car in Edison, NJ
Ever heard of adoption?

EDISON - A naked baby boy was found lying on the hood of a parked car in Edison this afternoon, seemingly left lying there as the state thawed from a powerful nor’easter, authorities said.

A visitor to an Edison nursing home, CareOne at Highlands located on Inman Ave., found the infant, who authorities believe is a newborn, lying on a towel atop the hood of the car shortly before 2 p.m., said Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

The child remains in good condition at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, according to Kaplan, and will be placed in the custody of the state Division of Youth and Family Services while police try to track down relatives.

The baby weights seven pounds, eight ounces, and is 21 inches long, said Kaplan.

Anyone with information about the baby is asked to call Detective Al Sciarrillo of the Edison Police Department at (732) 248-7561, or Investigator Daniel Ruschak of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3600.

2. Oh my god.
I do not understand the mentality of someone who would do such a thing.

7. I don't understand it either
I understand the desperation of a distitute, young naive girl but lord, just drop the baby off to SOMEONE - to just leave it defenseless like that is just so very CRUEL

8. Well she left it in plain view, where she knew someone would see it
It's better than what we've seen in the past - in dumpsters, for instance.

3. What about the law that allows a baby to be dropped off at a safe place,
Like a hospital, police station, church...? Poor little guy, so fortunate he was found before it snowed again. ;(

5. I guess some people still don't know about it.
Dear Lord. That baby is so lucky to have been found and cared for.

6. I agree. And regardless of whether anyone knows about that law, or not,
I can't imagine how someone with a conscience could have left a newborn outside, exposed to the elements. They could at least have left him someplace safe, where he would be more likely to be found. Now, he or she is in deep trouble. :-(

9. I suspect either someone left it there by accident as people do their briefcases or coffee mugs,
or the mother/father is a Romney.

10. So thankful that baby is ok. It could have ended very badly for that
innocent little life.
