1. Chile gets very big earthquakes every few decades.
Some of the largest on the planet. Kind of like the Pacific Northwest, which also gets tagged by 8's and 9's regularly.

7. There was a 6.9 quake in the ocean off Japan. but closer to Okinawa
Seious enough to evacuate for Sunami Warning.

Another storm headed to East Coast next week. This
time it tears through the South.

Some weird happenings with climate conditions???

8. Tsunami warning issued for Chile, Peru, Equador after quake
Massive earthquake strikes Chile

A massive earthquake of 8.3 magnitude has struck close to the city of Concepcion in Chile.

The US Geological Survey said the quake struck at 0634 GMT on Saturday at a depth of 59.4km (36.9 miles).

Concepcion is the second largest city in the country, about 450km south of Santiago. There is no word yet on any casualties.

The US government said a tsunami warning has been issued for Chile, Peru and Ecuador.

Buildings in Santiago were reported to have shaken for between 10 and 30 seconds, with the loss of electricity in some parts of the capital. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8540289.stm
