5. One picture that struck me |
|
was of a man rearranging a (very nice) sofa in a room that no longer had an exterior wall, his face utterly numb.
While the wrecked and burned cars and collapsed bridges might be more dramatic, this picture really brought it home about the shock of losing everything in just a couple of minutes.
I think tornado survivors can relate.

the past few years of activity on its eastern side. People on the west coast plate boundaries need to be prepared. This earthquake will create new pressure points along this boundary.

At least doors are open on a lot of these vehicles. Hopefully people were able to get out.

10. That freeway held up pretty well for the magnitude of the earthquake |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 02:08 PM by Cleita
considering it flipped cars. Compare that to the freeway collapse in San Francisco during the Loma Prieta quake in 1989. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Loma_Prieta_earthquake#San_Francisco_.E2.80.93_Oakland_Bay_Bridge

And there stands a billboard of 'Barbie.' And a blonde one, too. Globalism at its worst.
I am sending all good energy to the people of Chile. They went through a 9.5 in 1960. I understand there are tough building codes as in CA so let's hope the death toll remains low. Things can be replaced....except I could do w/o Barbie.
