Bush Has Gone AWOL by General William Odom

Bush Has Gone AWOL by General William Odom

"In principle, I do not favor Congressional involvement in the execution of U.S. foreign and military policy. I have seen its perverse effects in many cases. The conflict in Iraq is different. Over the past couple of years, the President has let it proceed on automatic pilot, making no corrections in the face of accumulating evidence that his strategy is failing and cannot be rescued.

"Thus, he lets the United States fly further and further into trouble, squandering its influence, money, and blood, facilitating the gains of our enemies. The Congress is the only mechanism we have to fill this vacuum in command judgment.

"To put this in a simple army metaphor, the Commander-in-Chief seems to have gone AWOL, that is ‘absent without leave.’ He neither acts nor talks as though he is in charge. Rather, he engages in tit-for-tat games.

"Some in Congress on both sides of the aisle have responded with their own tits-for-tats. These kinds of games, however, are no longer helpful, much less amusing. They merely reflect the absence of effective leadership in a crisis. And we are in a crisis.

4. Five Years Of Zero Oversight...
Today I just heard how 7 out of 8 projects our tax money spent in Iraq either hasn't been complete or isn't working. Many of these projects are now in areas too unsafe to even check on their status. Billions down the rat hole...and for most of us that's less of an outrage than all the lives wasted by this regime and its war for profit.

These fuksticks have had 20 FUs...(Friedman Units)...5 years of unchecked and unquestioned power to plan and screw up this invasion. Every time they're called into account, we get another FU sent our way and things only get worse. Enough is enough!

Boooooosh claims he listens to the "generals on the ground", then fires the generals until he gets the ones who will say what he wants them to say. He claims we need more time...how much more deserter boy? Another 50 dead American soldiers? 100, 200, 500, 1,000?

Finally, I keep asking and never get a straight answer from a Repugnican on this question: "What is victory". What's the exit plan here? What's the barometer on them "standing up" so we can stand down? Try and get a Repugnican to answer this question and watch the room spin.

6. "What is Victory?" by Donald Rumsfailed - Sept 20 2001
http://www.defenselink.mil/transcripts/transcript.aspx?transcriptid=1901

Presenter: Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld September 20, 2001

DoD News Briefing - Secretary Rumsfeld

Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 - 12:01 p.m. EDT

Now, what is victory? I say that victory is persuading the American people and the rest of the world that this is not a quick matter that's going to be over in a month or a year or even five years. It is something that we need to do so that we can continue to live in a world with powerful weapons and with people who are willing to use those powerful weapons. And we can do that as a country. And that would be a victory, in my view.
