My dearest cousin, Kelly, is headed to Iraq
In less than two weeks, someone very special to me is headed to Baghdad and, though she's been to Iraq before, I am scared. Things have gotten much worse since she was last there and she will no longer be looked upon as a liberator but, rather, as a target. Her job in Iraq: fuel and munitions logistics.

When she was a baby, it was not unusual for her to be left in my care. I would hold her and give her a bottle and when necessary, I would change her diaper. Years later, she did the same for my daughters.

Now, I know that's not the same as a mother's and a father's fear and anguish upon sending their own child off to war, but it's DAMN close.

I am asking you, dear DUers, to help me send her lots of positive energy and if you have faith, please say a prayer for her safety and well-being.

Thank you.

2. I'm sorry to hear this
There are quite a few of us in the same boat now, it's scary just because of what you cited it is much much more dangerous now, I'll keep her in my thoughts.

6. I know what you're going through
having just (Feb. 21) seen off a dear nephew to Camp Taji north of Bagdhad. My positive energy will be sent to Kelly just as I send it to my nephew Kyle. I'll also continue to press for bringing our troops, all of them, home, soon!

10. Texas Explorer, I will think of little Kelly in your arms today. I can't imagine the pain you and
your family must feel.

I saw a bumper sticker in liberal S.E. Portland last weekend.

Don't know if I can reproduce it here, but it said:

ENDLESS WAR

Then a line was drawn through the letters LESS. Above that, in bold script, were the letters THIS!

END THIS WAR
