Violating the Hatch Act: "No Controlling Legal Authority" Bites GOP
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 10:49 AM by CorpGovActivist
"Oversight Committee Asks Agencies for Information on Political Presentations": http://oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=1272

Each major Department and Agency head received a nice letter from Waxman, as you can see.

The head of the GSA asked her staff to figure out how GSA resources could be used to help "our candidates" in the 08 elections.

Of ***PARTICULAR NOTE*** (word to the wise): the letter that Waxman sent to SEC Chairman Christopher Cox, an agency that has wielded influence at the highest levels to squelch investigations into Bush donors: http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20070426174529.pdf

The Gary Aguirre investigation (the SEC lawyer sacked for pursuing a Bush donor too aggressively) is about to break out: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pequot+gary+aguirre+sec

1. Keep 'em coming.
The right is portraying this as a witch hunt, a hateful symptom of BDS (something like * hate syndrome or something), they don't realize that for the first time in years the congress is actually doing its job and that is oversight, to inquiry of the workings of the admin, to investigate if nonsense laws such as the Hatch Act, the Presidential Records Act, the national security laws are being or have been violated. They think there are way too many investigative hearings and they are just our the attempts at "gotcha", they just haven't seen them in 6 years so the numbers appeared skewed. The apathy of their congressional leaders when they had control lulled them into sleep and they don't like being awaken.

6. It's called projection.
It is what they would do(and did to Clinton)so they put it on the Dems. The Republicons have gotten this down to a fine art. I can frequesntly tell what shitty things they are doing because it is what they are blaming the Dems for.

4. by the time 2008 starts - the corruption will be a veritable mountain
so much scandal, so little time. If we increase our majorities in 2008, can we continue to investigate Republican corruption under Bush & DeLay?

5. Damn....

http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20070426174529.pdf

I wrote to you earlier this month requesting that your agency preserve and inventory all emails sent between White House off, rcials and agency employees through accounts controlled by the Republican National Commifiee or other nongovemmental entities. At the request of the
White House Counsel, I am postponing temporarily the deadline for responding to the Committee's request. This postponement will last for two weeks, extending the deadline for response to the letter to }r4ay 25,2007. The Committee's postponement does not apply to the request that you take steps to preserve such e-mails.

Arrrrgghhhhh!!!1!

All this "hurry-up and wait" is going to be the death of me!!!!11!

7. That gives Waxman more time to get his "ducks in a row" until May 25, 2007.
In the meantime, taking a couple of these each day will help you :D

8. Bearing in Mind That Waxman Has Copies Already...
... in many cases, and is waiting to see what they claim has been "lost" from the servers.

Meaning: he's giving them enough rope to hang themselves with.
