Comparing the Iraq War to the Civil War? (It's unpopular and Lincoln was an unpopular President at the time, but he freed the slaves and we're freeing the Iraqis!)

OR

Comparing the Iraq War to WWII? (Comparing the fascists to the terrorists, war for civilization. Forget the fact that the terrorists have no navy, air force, or no projection power. Also, when the US entered the war, it didn't go on for several years as it is now doing.)

Sometimes they bring up Vietnam. Yeah, that might be more of a reasonable comparison. If Mr. "5 deferments" Cheney had his way, we'd be in Iraq AND Vietnam today.

3. One of the freepers I know compared it to a bar fight!

We were discussing the military not having the right equipment and Rumsfeld's tired ole comment about going to war 'with the army you have' came up. So this freeper said well it's just like a bar fight, you have to hit back rather than waiting for someone to jump in and help you out.

So we told him that if it's like a bar fight, then that would mean when someone attacks you in a bar, you should run down the street to another bar and start beating up the people there.
