Patrick McHenry (NC-R) wants the Gipper's face on $50 bill ("He renewed America's self confidence")

Qestion: Grant or Reagan? By Alexander Mooney, CNN Political Unit
March 3, 2010 3:05 p.m. EST

(CNN) -- Should Ulysses S. Grant, the legendary Union general and 18th president of the United States, be bumped from his 96-year stint on the $50 bill?

Yes, according to one North Carolina Republican.

Rep. Patrick McHenry announced that he will introduce a measure that would replace Grant's face with Ronald Reagan's, just in time for the 40th president's 100th birthday next February.

"President Reagan was a modern day statesman, whose presidency transformed our nation's political and economic thinking," McHenry said in a statement. "Through both his domestic and international policies he renewed America's self confidence, defeated the Soviets and taught us that each generation must provide opportunity for the next."

6. I support it if it's SMOKIN' Ronnie Chesterfield...that exact photo I posted.
I think the country is ready for the first smoking president on currency. The only thing better would be a shot of him and that fuckin' monkey. Or if there's one of him SMOKING and HOLDING the monkey, give me an 800 number in Washington and I'm DIALING.

3. Well, after all Reagan WAS in charge of the governemt when it was
at its most corrupt since Grant's administration and we ought to remember that - but OTOH, Dubya's administration left Reagan in the dust in that department, and Grant DID lead the Federal army that put down the southern rebellion.

Grant is STILL the republican president who accomplished the most before leading DC into unspeakable corruption.

7. Well, thanks to Reagan, that $50.00 buys
what $5.00 did when the bastard took office, so it's fitting in a way.

I'd rather see the asshole's face affixed to foreclosure notices and bankruptcy paperwork, it's far more appropriate.

Put Reagan on half of them and MLK on the other half.
