Inquiring minds want to know - who sold their vote?
All we hear are about the earmarks on the Iraq emergency funding bill and the freepers are aghast, I tell you, shocked that Dems would put earmarks on a funding bill.:sarcasm:

But I want to know who needed a bribe to stop this war? Was it Dems or Repugs? Anybody got a clue? I'm sick of the hypocrisy of the reichwing prattling on and on about the pork in the bill. I don't like it either but for them to get on a soapbox and be so indignant is ridiculous.

I understand it goes on but I want to know who needed a push to vote for a timeline and do what 70% of the American people want. If it is Dems they left their party wide open for criticism and if it were repugs we need to call them on their BS. This is one time when we really needed a clean bill with no BS attached to give Chucklenuts.

Dems or Repugs, doesn't matter we need to know who sold their votes.

1. Thank You!! Yes indeed, all of them! We need to know.

Most of us understand what "pros and cons" means. We weigh courses of action in our lives all of the time, so we know what it means to be faced with a decision. AND we also know that when all of the pros-and-cons on all of the issues and related scenarios balance out so close to a 50:50 probability, you go with your Conscience to break the tie.

Apparently, our "leaders" either have forgotten that or they have no consciences, or they think "we" can be bought off. Hence, the pork.

2. I think it is very important we know exactly what earmarks are one that
bill. I understand some of the earmarks are for Katrina victims, firefighter and police. I don't have a problem with any of those issues needing funding BUT there is stuff in that bill that apparently is nothing but straight up bribes for their vote. That is all the Dems and MSM have said is that earmarks were needed to get it passed. They implied that the bill with the timeline was so important they did what they had to do to get it passed. I understand how DC works but on THIS bill?

I do not have a clue how to do a search to determine this information, or if it is even available but I'm guessing it is. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

3. You're right about the distinctions between one earmark and another.
Well, I know you begin with Thomas http://thomas.loc.gov/ to identify the committee members (Obey = chair of appropriations?) and to be sure that you have the current disposition of the bill accurately identified. Then try to have the right specific questions worked out, and the alternative questions you'll need when you don't get answers, and follow-up questions. Then I'd just call the committee and my Reps. and Sens. and go from there.

Persistence is probably going to be the most essential factor with these folks.
