Having to tie yourself in knots to defend a person is pathetic.
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 03:31 PM by Stinky The Clown
Listening to some former bush speechwriter defending Rove in the face of increasing criticism of him, his actions, and what he is currently saying.

I see some on the left doing the same sorts of things in the face of other evidence.

Note to the right wingers who do this: "Clinton Did It, Too" hasn't held water for a long fucking time. Using that now makes YOU look like a fool. It also undermines any power of argument you may have enjoyed.

Edit to add the new logo of this sort of thing. I call it the Gumby Defense.

2. Happens here all the time - not necessarily a RW trait.
any Cuba or Chavez thread is a good example.

5. The Chavez threads make me cringe.
"But he was *right* to shut down those TV stations! Thy said really mean things about him!"

6. Of course, what you mean is:
They backed a coup against him, giving the coup plotters air time while not broadcasting the truth of what was happening."

For which crime he turned around and executed every one of them. Of course.

7. Please argue that in your own thread. You are hijacking mine.
My thread is about people who have to twist themselves in knots to defend whoever it is they are defending.

8. Exactly. The person who I was replying to was deliberately twisting the
facts - IOW, twisting himself in knots to favor a particular position. I saw that as a blatant example of what you are talking about. Your thread is about not only passing on disinformation, but believing your own disinformation, at the expense of rational discourse.

At least that's how I took it. No hijacking intended.
