Random act of kindness . . . But she was holding a copy of Glenn Beck's book
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 11:11 PM by Boxerfan
I'm heading into our local public elementary school. The school is holding a book sale but it is unusually packed. Turns out there was also a basketball tryout or something like that & most of the crowd was waiting for the auditorium to open.

As I led my girls up the steps to get to the library I noticed a pile of bills ($) on the ground. Not a lot of money, a couple of ones & a five. I assumed the person nearby had dropped it & tapped her on the shoulder.

She was the owner & it had dropped from an envelope she held along with a book. It was a hard cover "Arguing with idiots" by Glenn Beck.Eeeeewwwww!

I pointed at the book & said in a calm voice-that is a horrid-horrid man!. She looked a bit shocked & said "I'm sorry you feel that way". All I could say was-Ma'am-everyone-Lord knows everyone deserves a chance. But the Xenophobia that man exhibits is beyond the pale. I kept moving & someone laughed-not sure if it was with me or whatever. Frankly I was dumbfounded someone would hold that book in public. I couldn't just shake my head & go on my way.

I guess I did good for not going into any debate or getting angry in front of my kids.We were there for a fun night buying books the girls had saved for. I'm always honest & I would have returned the money even if I had seen her book before I tapped he on the shoulder. Hopefully she takes a lesson from our encounter. But if you are reading frigging Beck in hard cover -in PUBLIC??? Your just plain beyond help I'm bettin.

1. Arguing With Idiots?
Sounds like a manual to know what to expect if you are going to be a guest on a Fox News show.

5. I should have pointed out how Nazi esque his picture is on the cover
But lord knows I wouldn't want to start out with jab like that. But have you seen the cover? OMG what a profile in idiocracy.

My oldest is 9 & sharp as a tack. When I told her she was a Beckhead she said-Dad! you should have kept that money. I told her that would be wrong even in her case. She understood I'm sure.

8. You Could Have Donated It
You know, you could have taken the money and given it to the local food bank. But even that is of dubious morality.

yeah, I've seen the cover and Beck kind of reminds me of the Henry Gibson character from The Blues Brothers

4. He sold a few hundred thousand / million?
Shouldn't be too surprised they are out there. I've got a copy floating around somewhere as well. Try to read from both sides of the spectrum.

7. Please tell me you didn't purchase that hate merchants book
Totally unecessary as he is about as deep as a mudpuddle. He spews daily & for free!. I actually enjoy listening to righty radio but he is too much of immature bully to enjoy the "banter".

IMHO-Enriching any of thier publishers means you should donate 10X the cover price to DU!!

10. Hey, try dealing with a parent who proudly shows you the new Glenn Beck book she bought. My Mom
just loves the new one with Nazi Glenn on the cover.
