I will not resign, says Wolfowitz
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6607913.stm

<snip>
World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz has said he would not resign in the face of "bogus" charges against him.

In a statement to a panel of World Bank directors, the embattled chief said he was the victim of a "smear campaign".

Mr Wolfowitz was defending himself against accusations that he pushed through a huge pay package for his girlfriend without the Bank's consent.

The committee is due to report to the Bank's board of 24 representatives, who will decide on the president's fate.

You will.

3. I guess the negotiated deal he was working out wasn't lucrative enough for the
bastard. Let's hope they fire him w/o compensation (and even make him pay back his girlfirend's salary.)

6. I agree with Wolfowitz. I don't think he should resign.
I think the board should fire his sorry ass, and kick his butt—literally—to the curb!

Then the powers that be ought to fire his whore girlfriend, too. She is obviously not qualified for her job, or she could have gotten it through normal channels.

What is it with these people? They get caught red handed, and then stomp their feet and adamantly state that they didn't do it/aren't resigning/will not answer questions about it.

F 'em.

10. But they figured it out: Honor gets you nothing.
ALL employment contracts are going to have to be rewritten to reflect this.

Right now, Wolfowitz is pitting a rising EU against a declining US. Gonna be fun.

to happen for years. I'm the leading hawk, and if I return to government, even as an assistant secretary of defense, or a lesser position, it will be my number one priority from the beginning. And I have a large number of people with me, important people, politicians, magazine editors, members of think tanks, etc., a whole new breed who want to preserve the integrity of the World Bank, after the previous administration failed to do the job, and opened up the institution to harmful tactics. We neo-preservatives are needed, and it will take time to restore the World Bank, absent an event such as a second Great Depression.

17. good god...
It's becoming clear that these Bush criminals won't leave until the pitchforks and torches are on their doorstep.

Incompetence, corruption, or just plain mob thuggery isn't enough to get a 'loyal Bushie' out of any office - their sense of upper-class entitlement is just too strong.

19. When he got the job my first reaction was the same as the UN Bolton appointment.

He was sent there to turn the World Bank
into the Bush Bank and he brought in his
cadre of Bush toadies with him.
