Texas Approves Curriculum Revised by Conservatives

By JAMES C. McKINLEY Jr.
Published: March 12, 2010

AUSTIN, Tex. — After three days of turbulent meetings, the Texas Board of Education on Friday voted to approve a social studies curriculum that will put a conservative stamp on history and economics textbooks, stressing the superiority of American capitalism, questioning the Founding Father’s commitment to a purely secular government and presenting Republican political philosophies in a more positive light.

The vote was 11 to 4, with 10 Republicans and one Democrat voting for the curriculum, and four Democrats voting against.

I am so f--king sick of these sobs.
When are we going to take back murika from the nazis or are we just goin to fade away while they nuke every good thing in the world.
I have been fighting and arguing with these f--king b---rds since I was a teenager in the 70s.

Robert A Heinlein was right Religious Hysteria will be the end of the America we knew. He was only off by a few years. If memory serves his stories had use under the talibaptists in 2001. Its been a long time since I read his stuff.

17. What was it he said about the "First Prophet" in his book.
Oh, yes.
"Not every case -- I've known the good and the humble and the devout. But how about the man who claims to know what the Great Architect is thinking? The man who claims to be privy to His Inner Plans? It strikes me as sacrilegious conceit of the worst sort -- this character probably has never been any closer to His Trestle Board than you or I. But it makes him feel good to claim to be on chummy terms with the Almighty, it builds his ego, and lets him lay down the law to you and me. Pfui! Along comes a knothead with a loud voice, an I.Q. around 90, hair on his ears, dirty underwear, and a lot of ambition. He's too lazy to be a farmer, too stupid to be an engineer, too unreliable to be a banker -- but, brother, can he pray! After a while he has gathered around him other knotheads who don't have his vivid imagination and self-assurance but like the idea of having a direct line to Omnipotence. Then this character is no longer Nehemiah Scudder but the First Prophet."

10. Note to BlueJazz: How do you expect us liberals from Texas to find a job and
move the hell away, as is repeatedly suggested here, if you throw our resumes in the trash?

I'm surprised it took them this long to try something like this.

country. Whatever they just approved, our kids in California will be learning it next year.

21. Perhaps I should rephrase
I think we're starting another civil war right now.

Fundie neo-con teabaggers against anyone who upholds the constitution.

So far only one side is fighting this war and therefore they are winning.
