The ball is in the Democrats' court... |
|
The Republicans have stopped playing. They are against the HCR bill unanimously.
Since it is entirely up to the Democrats, they can pass whatever bill they want to pass. They can pass the pubic option, if they so desire. The question is: Will they have the courage to pass anything worthwhile? Don't bet the farm.
Many Democrats, not all, have nailed their knees to the floors of the corporate church. They have forgotten the people. They are Democrats in name only. It helps them to get re-elected in their districts.
But Speaker Pelosi has already announced that there would be no "public option". Why? Is she giving cover for those that do not want to vote for public option but also, do not want to be identified as voting against a public option. They want their cake and eat it too.
However, let's be honest about this reform bill. It is entirely the creation of the Democratic Party. They can pass whatever they want to pass. Republicans have taken themselves out of the game. Let's keep it in perspective.

1. Being honest about the bill |

"However, let's be honest about this reform bill. It is entirely the creation of the Democratic Party."
No, really, it isn't. We on the grassroots level have had basically zero input into it. The bill was written on the desks of industry lobbyists who have set themselves up to be winners at our expense no matter what happens.
I've said it before and I've said it again - the elected officials of our party need to make economic and financial reform their top priority, because that's the top priority of the American people. If that is done successfully - and it could be done, if met with the same level of determination - then the party will have the political capital it needs to say "trust me" to a public that is apprehensive about for whom the legislative process is really working.

2. "Off the Table" Pelosi |

We must remember these people are far removed from the average american. They truly believe, and with just cause IMO, that Americans are simple stupid and will believe whatever they are told..They feather their own beds while occasionally tossing a few scraps to the people..Politicians are people highly trained and skilled in telling the people exactly what they want to hear and then placing blame somewhere else on why it couldn't be done. "The votes aren't there" Democrats have Super majorities in both Houses and "The Votes Aren't There"

3. The simple act of receiving their first paycheck places them in the top 13th percentile. |

Of course, the vast majority were top 5%ers to begin with.
