Frank Rich discusses the insanity of Liz Cheney and Karl Rove
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 08:24 AM by Cyrano
Liz Cheney has an organization called "Keep America Safe," and Karl Rove has a book out titled "Courage and Consequences." Frank Rich's column in today's NY Times calls them out as the lunatics they are.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/14/opinion/14rich.html?ref=opinion

According to them, Bill Clinton is responsible for 9/11 and Obama is responsible for today's "terrorism."

The damn thing is that the Republican echo chamber will repeat these lies every minute of every day. And millions of fools will believe them.

We really do need to develop our own "truth machine" to counter these lunatics. I thought that the internet would be a good enough tool to do so, but to date, it hasn't happened.

I'd really like to hear some ideas on how we can fight back against the wingnut lie machine that cranks out propaganda 24 hours a day.

12. I doubt it would have made a difference.
Brokaw isn't stupid. He knows what's going on, but chooses to stick with his GOP-friendly script.

13. I'll never understand people like Brokaw and those like him.
Brokaw and others spent their entire careers as journalists -- "real journalists" who felt they had a responsibility to report the news openly and honestly. Real journalists know bullshit when it's being fed to them.

Why are Brokaw and others willing to do this? Money isn't an issue to them anymore. Yet, Brokaw and too many others are willing to throw away a lifetime of being decent, honorable human beings in order to aid and abet the scum of the earth.

So here's my question. WHY???

2. More media-types need to expose them for what they are.
We can't afford for hindsight reporting on what these clowns are up to. It's pretty serious when they are even changing textbooks to cover up the real story of what happened during the Bush administration.

I'm still shaking my head, trying to figure out how the likes of Bush, Rove and Cheney even got into the White House. Three losers their entire life.

replaced with the patriot act. The most important thing we need to do as a voting block is demand that our constitution be restored and this luny patriot act be removed-ASAP

I was looking for her college paper on , "The Evolution of Presidential War Powers," in 1988.

7. It got very little press. I saw a short note in a publication, but that was all.
I thought it would've been picked up by the major media in a more noticeable way, but it didn't seem to be.

6. Bravo Frank!!!!
As far as what to do about it, I think Rich and others need to start calling it for what it is - a huge propaganda machine. They also need to be specific and name FOX News and Rush Limbaugh and the rest as being liars of the first order.

8. Sadly the paper Frank Rich writes for, The New York Times is on the ....
.... propaganda too. They are still pushing the ACORN lie, the surge worked in Iraq,
and that bush won fair and square in 2004.

Although we do have a voice in the senate now.

Ever wonder why all the progressive radio stations get bought up and flipped?
The lies only work in a vacuum.

11. I agree with you that the NY Times has become just another
rag for spreading propaganda. I canceled my subscription a couple of years ago.

However, they have some great columnists such as Frank Rich, Paul Krugman, and Bob Herbert.

The Washington Post is even worse, but they too have a couple of great columnists such as Eugene Robinson and E.J. Dionne.

I never miss reading all of these people on line, but I fear it's just a matter of time before they start charging us to link in.

14. The internet is the reason we won in 2006 and in 2008
When Howard Dean ran for President and before the idiocy of the media showing the scream a million times his campaign workers used teh internet in a whole new way. We've been winning elections ever since.

The intelligent people who want to know what's going on go looking for it when the media falls down on their jobs. That's the reason the internet actually grew so fast. It was pushed to grow by the seekers. Sites like DU were established to create a home for the seekers and not the other way around. The fact that it's wildly successful is because everyone gets a chance to communicate and learn and debate and exchange ideas. Who wants to go back to being told everything without having any input other than what the media allow. And young people don't watch the media. They get their information by looking for the best sources.

The wingnut lie machine that catapults the propaganda 24/7 is becoming irrelevant. They have to be more and more outrageous to keep their audiences. They've had to give up all semblance of stability or fairness because they're catering to the lowest common denominator who are mostly Luddites and not very smart and who have a well developed reptile brain stem. If they aren't misinforming their audiences they're entertaining them with mindless drivel in which they can be as passive as they want.

16. It's only insanity when people listen and/or believe.
Cheney(s) and Rove are corrupt, not insane.
