The “public option” and the wheelbarrow parable: Part 3
http://pnhp.org/blog/2010/03/13/wheelbarrow-parable-part-3/

"...For the record I would like to stress once again that my objection to the “option” is not that the “option” itself will waste tax dollars, enrich the insurance industry (the country’s most powerful opponent of single-payer legislation), retard the universal coverage movement, and threaten to snuff out the state-level single-payer movement. All those dire consequences flow from the insurance industry bailout – the mandate and the subsidies – not from the little “option,” at least not directly. My primary objection to the “option” is the role it has played in facilitating enactment of the bailout. It has played the role of the straw in the wheelbarrow parable. It has allowed the “option” campaign to turn itself into a campaign for an insurance industry bailout — right under our noses."

what a coincidence.

There's this group of people at a park, and also in the park are a bunch of tables stacked with coins. A few of the people start to look at the coins. And a different group of people start to explain to them they should not pick them up, and explain why. and the people looking at the coins pick them up and start saying they won they won.

The people explaining it to them start to explain again its not about winning and why they should not put the coins in their pocket, and those few people that picked up the coins start to again say they won they won, as they stuff as many coins as they can in their pockets.

So the people try and explain again, in detail, making sure everyone knows, because they don't want anyone to get hurt, they show examples and equasions, and the history even. But those few people just keep saying how they won they won. The people trying to explain don't need to win, it isn't about that, they are trying to explain something. But those with the coins keep just saying how they won. and some wont listen and just stuff their pockets.

....

....

....

Then the yearly flood comes and all the people with loads of coins in their pockets are weighed down and drown, the ones that did listen brave the storm and our ok.

Maybe their will be no flood this year, maybe those people will walk away with a bunch of coins, but from my view, it is not that complicated to see.

I wonder how many people go through life thinking they won they won, and ignoring anything else?

5. Yes, we all know this bill has some good components, unfortunately
there are long term gifts for ceratin industries. Exactly who won is the question.

"...The industry's real trouble begins in 2011, when 79 million baby boomers begin turning 65. Health insurers stand to lose a huge slice of their commercially insured enrollment (estimated at 162 million to 172 million people) over the next two decades to Medicare, the government-funded health insurance program for seniors..."
