the thread went...if combined/duplicate...if moved, either not late breaking news or an editorial or considered GD or other forum material.
Perhaps the above accounts for the locked threads? (because people don't check for duplicates? - not everything is late breaking news even if it is new news? editorials have always been moved...)
I don't know :)

Most of the time it's usually a dupe, not LBN, or not a valid source.
There are also "nit-picky" reasons, like not quoting the *exact* article title in the Subject line.
It all helps keep LBN clean and informative.
