Dennis Kucinich is voting YES in order to Free the Hostages....nothing more. |
|
Like Wall Street Banks, the Health Insurance Corporations were successful with their Extortion Demand.
The Demand: Give the Health Insurance Industry a TRILLION DOLLARS of Public Money, and enshrine the Big 5 Health Insurance Corporations as the ONLY gateway to Health Care in America. Make it MANDATORY that every American BUY Insurance from THEM.
The Hostages *Medicaid will be expanded slightly and become available to more of America's poor.
*Some with pre-existing conditions may be able to BUY Health Insurance.
*Some with catastrophic illnesses will be able to retain their insurance as long as they are able to pay.
*Some with low incomes will receive a subsidy that will help them BUY insurance of questionable value (High Co-Pay/High Deductible)...but some could be helped.
This Bill Will Probably Save SOME Lives. (The Hostages) It will NOT save all, probably not even most, of the 44,000 who die because of no access to Health Care. How many it "saves" will have to be counted in retrospect. Medical Bankruptcies WILL continue as people can't meet the 30% Co-Pay. (Did you know that the term "Medical Bankruptcy" is unheard in most of the civilized countries in the WHOLE WORLD?)
Today, Dennis Kucinich said he will vote to release the hostages. I personally wouldn't do that. I don't believe in negotiating with Terrorists, Extortionists, or Blackmailers. I believe the only way to deal with these predators is Straight Fucking Head On and Grind Them Up into little Pieces. (simply expand Medicare). Kucinich is absolutely right about this, but he is only one man willing to STAND UP, while the great majority of today's "Democrats", especially The Leadership are more than happy to Lie Down and Spread em for BIG MONEY.
Complying with their DEMANDS only makes them stronger. We would be much better off it we had the "Democrats" to STAND UP and Take Them Out, but we don't. We would be much better off it we had the "Democrats" to "Welcome Their Contempt", but we don't.
Today, Dennis Kucinich said he will vote for the bill because it will save some lives. I understand why he did this.
He will do this to help release the hostages. America WILL PAY a steep price to release these hostages. The PRICE will be Making the Hostage Takers even Richer and MORE Powerful.

3. Yup, or it ws some other threat or promise that he couldn't refuse |
|
:-(
People in my choir (most of them left of center, except for maybe four Republicans) were experiencing cognitive dissonance tonight. They were saying that they hated the bill but were glad it passed. I think they're still buying into the "our team" mentality, which I am not.

4. And you point out a very important point... |
|
Those 44,000 people die every year from a lack of healthcare, not a lack of health insurance.
If HCR without at least a public option passes, then we have a pseudo-solution. If it doesn't pass, we still have a problem that demands a real solution.
The current HCR package is being pushed by corrupt politicians on the payroll of corrupt industries. Is it a surprise that they see no problem with passing a law making it a crime not to be a customer of their corrupt masters? Is it a surprise that the people who bailed out corrupt banks see no problem with directing public money to corrupt insurance companies?

7. There is no nobility in letting 45,000 people die |
|
annually. The terrorists are those who wish to continue killing in the name of so called integrity.

10. He freed the hostages by voting to sellout to the insurance companies? |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-17-10 10:47 PM by ProSense
Which is it: a foot in the door (as Democrats have said) or a sellout? It can't be both.

13. It's only the beginning. |
|
Once the bill is signed, we will know exactly which bus we were thrown under. But we don't have to be road kill. We can get up and start working on making sure the next time the bus hits something that it's something that will be the beginning of the destruction of that corporate for profit health care money machine. There is more than one way to get to single payer. It just will be harder.

14. What he SAID was he is voting "YES" because it will ruin the president |
|
and all Democrats hopes for fulfilling their desires when we have the first all out majority. We are toast if this thing does not pass.
And he said that he will start working on a public option for the bill immediately after it is passed.
That is what he SAID.
