Obama once again postpones overseas trip! Probably doesn't have the votes to pass health bill
and needs to be here to apply maximum pressure on Democrats. Rahm "Sharp Elbows" Emanuel still has more beatings to inflict on liberal Democrats in the House. Get the whips out! BBI

Obama postpones overseas trip to focus on health-care debate
By Michael D. Shear and William Branigin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, March 18, 2010

Bowing to public and private complaints from lawmakers, President Obama decided Thursday to delay his overseas trip to Indonesia and Australia so that he can be in Washington for the culmination of his year-long effort to pass health-care legislation.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama has called the president of Indonesia and will soon call the prime minister of Australia to express his regrets. Gibbs said the trip will be postponed until June.

"The president is disappointed . . . but we will get a chance to visit both countries," Gibbs said.

The postponement of the trip means Obama and his team will be in Washington throughout a vote scheduled for Sunday in the House and further votes in the Senate next week.

Obama had already postponed the trip once. He was originally scheduled to leave for Asia on Thursday but pushed back the departure until Sunday so that he could help rally Democrats to vote for the health-care overhaul.

3. Your pity is misguided. You should be worrying about the poor people with out insurance
