Reid Promises Separate Public Option Vote in Next Few Months
Not sure if posted yet.

Hoping to assuage progressive Democrats who remain disappointed with the content of the health care reform bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) committed on Friday to holding a separate vote on a public option in the coming months.

In a letter to two of his more progressive colleagues in the Senate -- Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Bernie Sanders of Vermont -- the Nevada Democrat implicitly apologized for his inability to get a government-run insurance plan into the final piece of health care legislation and promised to keep working to get the policy into law.

Hopefully Reid keeps to his word, although who knows. Once this bill is passed, they may as well move on to the next issue seamlessly, never to look back again.

4. How about next week?
"coming months" could mean never in politic-speak.

5. I just find it ironic that someone, ANYONE, who gives any support at all to the PO
is being dissed and mocked and snarked at by those who CLAIM to also support the PO.

Every thread that says this about Reid is full of posts mocking him for doing this. Curious.

7. I noticed the same thing, but am also hopeful that Reid does this. It will solidify our base a bit.

9. Apologies if my end comment came off as snark.
But there is a distinct possibility that they could just consider this issue taken care of, and move on to jobs or energy or education. Who here would be surprised if that happened, honestly?

10. Some of the cynicism might be because Reid may not be in the Senate come January
