1. Mika is right! Miley was wrong...
Have you seen this pole dance? Have you seen the short shorts and the grinding? This dance was done on the
Teen Choice Awards that aired on Nickelodeon. Yeah, that's the SpongeBob channel.

These are children watching Miley. My girls are 9 and 10 and they're probably at the older end of the Miley
fan base. There are so many 5-year olds who adore Miley Cyrus, watch her show and try to emulate her. I can't
even count how many 5 and 6 year old "Miley's" came to my door trick-or-treating last year.

Cyrus is completely lacking sensitivity if she thinks this is about changing the channel. This is about
our daughters and their role model gyrating and sexing up a dance. Her fan base is little girls!

I am not surprised by this. Her father seems to manage her career and during her sexy pole dance you
could seem him on his feet clapping and cheering. Creepy.

What does Miley Care? She's practically a billionaire now, and I guess she's free to snub the millions
of parents who spent a lot of dough buying her CDs and merchandise for their kids.

Oblivious and trashy. Just lovely.

He's got another daughter at home (9 years old) that he is turning into a lingerie model.

10. Seriously? Billy Ray sold his daughter to the Disney pimps
He is her biggest cheerleader.

3. I'd much rather see SpongeBob do a pole dance.

I think the real question everyone, if they can break away from their pearl-clutching -yet certainly, I'm sure, justified- outrage long enough, should be asking themselves is, WHY is any of this worthy of airtime on a so-called "major Cable News" (or as I like to call it, "Newz") channel? (Fair Disclosure: I haven't watched Cable Newz for more than 30 seconds at a time since the run-up to the 2004 election, because it sucks so bad)

Oh, yeah. Because they know it gets millions of viewers outraged, millions more some weird combination of outraged and yet still fascinated, and most importantly it DOESN'T HAVE JACK SHIT TO DO WITH ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY RESEMBLING ANYTHING IMPORTANT (or, to put it another way, "newsworthy") IN CURRENT GLOBAL EVENTS.

Here's a quick tip to my fellow concerned parents: If Nickelodeon is airing Miley Cyrus's pole dance and your fear is that your kid may become a pole dancer instead of a quantum physicist, change the cable to the Science Channel, where if you're lucky you may catch Michio Kaku doing a pole dance.

Or, better yet, turn off the tv entirely.

14. Yes, but Miley's fan base is from the Disney Channel...
These are children who are watching her--some as young as 5 years old.

She has a responsibility to her fan base of six- and seven-year old girls to keep the whoring and pole dancing to
a minimum.

I don't care what a Christina Aguillera or a Lady Gaga does. They've got their niche. Whatever.

Miley made millions and gained popularity by appealing to very young girls and tweens. Most 14 year
olds have outgrown Miley and the Hannah Montana thing.

Cyrus has a moral obligation to be sensitive about this.

15. I've seen it...
...but an Abercrombie ad is a little different than an actress who has made millions
off of very young girls watching her show and buying her merchandise.

Miley Cyrus's fan base is young girls watching the Disney Channel. This pole
dance was done at the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards. It was inappropriate for
her to dance and act like that--understanding very well that many little girls
see her as a role model.

If you've got little girls in your house, you understand this.

I understand that Miley Cryus might be tired of the whole Disney thing. She's
outgrown Hannah Montana. If she wants to move on that's fine. But...morphing
yourself into a pole-dancing, scantily clad tart--on Nickelodeon is a bit
misplaced.

A dance that like would be fine on the MTV music awards or Grammys...or
even in a PG-13 movie. To pull her fan base of little girls and tweens
into all of that, was insensitive.

16. I agree with you ...
I don't like a lot of things about the cyrus's. There are too many things in our society that are outrageous.

Yes,I have a daughter who I tried to shield and she now tells me I tried to keep her in fantasy land too long but she appreciates it,she now is outraged by the things she sees going on with little girls.

She more outraged than me,I guess I have seen too much.

18. You have a point.

Nevertheless, like I said, if something on Nickelodeon offends you, my suggestion to you is to turn off the tv. Or put on the Science Channel. If your daughter is only 5, you should still be able to stash the remote higher than she can reach.

13. Why anyone buys the CD and merchandise of a made-up celebrity is beyond me.
Why anyone is surprised when that made-up celebrity grows up and does her own thing is also beyond me.

17. I'm about as socially and "morally" liberal as anyone on the planet.
But I, too, think the performance, in context, was very inappropriate.
